Abe's Exoddus Bug: Sound

Hello.
I've recently acquired the Oddbox for my PC and I am experiencing a glitch:
The background music and certain sound effects (chant, stop it!, explosions, etc.) aren't playing and the background sounds keep playing longer than they should.
Is there any known patch for this issue?
I use Windows 7.

Also, I use Windows 7.

Sometimes the music gets in to a horrible loop, just press esc twice to pause and unpause the game and it should stop.

it doesn't work.
It's more complicated than that. There also several sounds missing.

Can you try to verify game cache in steam? If you have the steam version of course

I've tried that. Didn't help out.
I think I will just leave this here in case somebody knows the solution.

Can you post a video of this happening?

Have you updated your soundcard drives? Also, what are your specs, so we could see, more or less, if it's an hardware problem.

Try deleting all of Abe's Exoddus's content off Steam or like what Varrok said, verify game cache. Sometimes it can install incorrectly and some files can be missing, happened to me once.

And if you want to keep the save files, go into C:, Program Files, Steam, steamapps, [your username], common, Oddworld Abes Exoddus and your saves should be all in the folder and are .sav files* just move them to another folder somewhere then drag them back in after the game has reinstalled.

*It's been a while but I'm sure they are .sav files

If that isn't the problem well I don't know. Could be the fact your using Windows 7 to play a Windows 98 game but I doubt it.

I'm not using Steam.
Also, It worked properly when I played the game for the first time.
The problem only appeared when I entered the game the second time.

This is a legal copy we are talking about, right? Because I had the exact same problem when I used a downloaded copy back in the day (because I lost my original). Sounds were fucked up all over the place. Some were missing. Pretty much what you described...

DarkHoodness 11-23-2012 06:27 AM

It's a couple of quid off of steam if you don't own a legit copy...

Exactly. As of today, the games are:

Yeah, I'm actually using a downloaded version.
I'm saving money to buy the oddbox in a couple of months from now.
I'm a college student so I kinda have to be careful with spending money. :P
I will just wait until then I guess.

It's 2,50 on Steam. Have a glass of water instead of a soda a few times and you saved enough for AE. It's not like it takes months of saving.

Anyway we can't and won't help with illegal copies of the game, sorry.

I love Steam. Such a small amount of money for one of the best games of all time.

Paul 11-24-2012 07:03 AM

This is what happens when you pirate games, prob the EXE has been chain loaded with malware or something.

OddChipango 12-08-2012 12:33 PM

This exact same problem happened to me several times on random situations. I usually just reboot my PC and everything would go normal again.
