MOD EDIT: This thread was split off from this post here.

So, is anyone looking forward to Resident Evil 6?

Nepsotic 09-24-2012 11:48 AM

Resident Evil

Well, I haven't played the demo yet, but the only campaign I'm looking forward to is Leon's. And due to the way they're splitting the game, it will probably be about 2 hours long.

So yes, I'm looking forward to it, but only because it's a Resi game, and I trust them, though I probably shouldn't, not since 5.

No.

Nepsotic 09-24-2012 12:03 PM

They fucked 5 up, but I'm willing to give them another chance.

Crashpunk 09-24-2012 01:12 PM

I'm not a big fan of Resident Evil. I did love RE4 and the first one but I'm not bothered in the franchise; So I doubt I will play RE6.

And if it's anything like RE5 then it's going to suck.

Nepsotic 09-24-2012 01:21 PM

Resi 5 didn't suck, It was an OK game and I enjoyed it, but it just wasn't Resident Evil.

Varrok 09-24-2012 01:24 PM

It sucked at being Resident Evil.

Crashpunk 09-24-2012 01:27 PM

It was a good concept but it wasn't achieved well, I also thought it took the scare away from Resident Evil. I found RE4 genuinely scary at times.

Wings of Fire 09-24-2012 01:28 PM

Resident Evil as a series worked until Resident Evil 3, where Resident Evil as a series should have ended.

Code Veronica I have a bit of a soft spot for, and Resi 4 is a really good game, but really who can bring themselves to care about the plot any longer?

Nepsotic 09-24-2012 01:33 PM

They keep introducing new elements to it, so even though it stays relatively fresh, it changed too much in Resi 5, which was never even meant to be survival horror.
Yes RE4 was scary every now and again, but only on the first playthrough. I do have to say though, 4 is My favourite, and still stands as one of My all-time favourite games.

Are you talking about the story or the gameplay? Because the gameplay hasn't been survival horror since Resident Evil Code Veronica.

The story is a complete and utter atrocious mess.

I must admit. I didn't pay attention to the storyline of RE4. Something about saving a princess and there's a evil guy in a castle...

Wait. I might of played Zelda actually...

Varrok 09-24-2012 01:38 PM

RE4 was scary only at the beginning

Resident Evil 4 is a huge pile of cliches. The ones through the main game are charming and work, the ones telling around the game and conecting it to the overarching plot (Krauser, Ada, Wesker) are overindulgent and do not.

OANST 09-24-2012 01:44 PM

I played Resident Evil 1. Never again, I swore, and I have kept to that.

MeechMunchie 09-24-2012 02:08 PM

I've never played Resident Evil either.

We should have an I've Never Seen Star Wars thread.

I don't give a shit about the plot in the recent Resident Evil games. I just find they always get the gameplay and atmosphere just right. That's why I play them. Yeah, the characters these days might be cliche-ridden, one-liner spouting puppets, but that's not what I care about.

I also think Chris and Leon fighting side-by-side is every fanboy's dream.

Who the hell hasn't seen Star Wars?

Who the hell hasn't seen Star Wars?

That's the joke. It's an example of something outrageously popular that some people will inevitably miss.

Nepsotic 09-24-2012 02:27 PM

Ha, Leon is cheesy as hell, but that's why he's My favourite character.

Resident Evil is a work of art, as is Silent Hill 2.

OANST 09-24-2012 02:29 PM

Resident Evil is a kind of accidental art just like Henry Darger.

Mr. Bungle 09-24-2012 02:31 PM

Resident Evil (or Capcom games in general TBH) is not really art all. I mean, I guess they are, but I don't see them that way. I just see them as fun games that are fun to play but they don't really make you think that hard.

Silent Hill has a lot more artistic integrity to it than Resident Evil ever will.

Nepsotic 09-24-2012 02:32 PM

So, you got scared, and that's why you won't play again?

Edit: Speedy shitter. Yes, I agree Silent Hill is much more artsy, and just better in genral, but I enjoy playing Resi

You can't even compare those two.

How petty. I don't think RE1 can scare anyone really.

OANST 09-24-2012 02:37 PM

I just thought it was a crappy game, that was unintentionally funny every once in a while.

Mr. Bungle 09-24-2012 02:39 PM

It is kind of crappy, but has cemented itself in gaming history for being one of the first "modern" survival horror games.

The later (every one after the first) ones are much better.

Nepsotic 09-24-2012 02:41 PM

The unintentional funniness makes me love it even more. Plus, it's from 1996, what would you expect?

"BLOOD! Hope it's not... CHRIS' BLOOD!"

OANST 09-24-2012 02:43 PM

I love the idea that nothing that isn't very recent can be good. Like Hemmingway, Tolstoy, and Shakespeare did all their best work after 2001.

Alone in the Dark wasn't "modern" enough?
