Abe's oddysee on a mac

Hi,

I apologise if I'm not following the rules of this forum and I apologise for my english too but i'm french ( that's not a good reason btw )

I need your help about the controls of abe's oddysee, i downloaded a pc version of the game and I installed it on my macbook thanks to winery or something like that ( for information i followed paulthetall's website's instructions )

The game is running well but i can't find the correct button on my keyboard to make the second whistle, it should be 8 on a pc but it isn't the same on a mac ( for example to make the first whistle I have to press the button under the two speakers : the one to write - and _ ) , and cause of this problem i'm stuck in the monsaic awakenings level.

I hope you'll help me, thx a lot !

Thib.

I believe there's a file with all of the keymaps in it. I recall other users having modified it. If memory serves AO has a settings.ini file. Try looking in there.

I don't have AO installed on this machine, otherwise I'd try it myself.

Thx for your answer,

I'm a recent user of mac and I tried to follow your advices.

I opened the Abe's oddysee.app and then I got two folders and 1 prog : Contents, drive_c and Wineskin, I searched and I found two .ini files in : drive_c / program files / abe's oddysee , the first is called abe.ini and contents the shortcuts for the moving actions of abe like running or crouching .. and the other is called lang.ini but there's only text and not a shortcut in it, i can't find a settings.ini file :/

For my old version of AO, the keyboard control settings are stored in "abe.ini".

Thib 09-12-2012 01:39 PM

For my part, in the "abe.ini" file, I've just the move controls but not the "languages" or "speak" controls.

Oh I see what you mean now. I don't think you can modify that. :(

Does your emulator (winery?) have some settings that you can play with?

Thib 09-12-2012 02:33 PM

I absolutely don't know how this software is running, I can't tell you if it's an emulator or something like that, I found it on a website and followed instructions for AO .

( Is it an emulator ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wine_(software) )

Btw I'll look if I can change some settings .

Oh and try using a PSX emulator if you can, really simple to use.

Thib 09-12-2012 02:53 PM

Thank you, if I can't find a solution I'll change for a PSX emulator !

Takeshi 09-12-2012 02:54 PM

If you need any help with the emulator at all just ask here or pm me

For the record, discussion of pirated versions of games is against the rules on OWF. Don't do it again.

Thib 09-13-2012 03:03 AM

The version of AO i'm playing is not a pirated version, I bought it 2,49 euros on GamersGate.

He said discussion not where you got it from ;)

And Steam works on a Mac right, why not just use that?

Okay, I retract my last post. But if anyone is thinking about further discussion of PSX emulation, I'd discourage it.

Steam client does, but not all the games. Very few are both Win and Mac compatible

Wow, Steam should help out Mac players for games on Mac.

Easy to say. Oddworld games just don't have native mac support. The only way to play them is through emulators like Wine etc

Yeah I guess so.
