Oddworld books.
You know how in Star Wars, they have a ton of books about side stories to the main saga and the like? Well, it could be the same with Oddworld. I would enjoy reading an Oddworld book. It doesn't have to be about Abe or Munch, it could be about someone we don't know, a branching side story perhaps.
What do you think? |
Well, we could just send a fanfic in to a publisher and ask them to publish it. And get someone from OWI to do the illustrations with a computer. Simple. :D
|
Some people in this forum are really good writers. I wonder what professional author (i.e. one who writes books for a living) is best suited to write an Oddworld book?
|
Hmm.. Paul Jennings! Morris Gleitzman!
|
What previous books have they written?
|
You don't know!!!???? Oh well.. Paul Jennings is famous for his "un" books. They all start with "un", like Unbelievable, Uncanny etc. Morris glietzman has wrote some funny books, and has wrote a series of books with Paul Jennings.

COME ON GIVE ME A BRAKE!!!
Paul Jenning is the worse posible Auther for Oddworld... For crying out loud he is a kids writer (not that there's anythink wong with that) that speacialises in short storys of any dicription with twists at the end. Probly the only reson that you think he would be the best for the the job is because he is all you read!!! Also I dont think he is much of a international writer, Just Austrailan mostly... |
WHAT ABOUT GARTH NIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HE IS THE BEST NOVELIST IN THE WORLD!!!!!! HE WOULD WRITE AN EXCELLENT ODDWORLD BOOK. HE WROTE SABRIEL AND LIREAL! THOSE BOOKS ARE BREATH TAKING! |
Not that I'm endorsing this idea in the slightest but, don't you think people with experience of writing about ODDWORLD should be writing the books? Like Dragadon, Teal, Akya, Rettick, et cetera?
Or maybe we don't need the books publishing, it's a lot cheaper and easier to just read the fanfics. If famous writers want to write fanfics, let them. If they want them read, they post them on here. |
That's true, but I mean like a 300 page novel of some sort. If anyone can write a 300 page novel on Oddworld and has time, just send me a copy, lol :D.
|
I'll get right on it...
(after I do the load of school work I need to do and complete Jak & Daxter) |
the late douglas adams all we need is some sort of machine to comunicate to the dead.
|
Lorne Lanning should write them!
|
Get some essential salts and a a Necronomicon, I'm resurrecting Douglas Adams! ;)
|
WEELLL first get a writer.....then get Lorne and the crew to direct him what too write
|
The best living writer I think there could be to write Oddworld books is Terry Pratchett. His Discworld is very similar in spirit to [AO-era] Oddworld, in that it is a parody of the real world that makes no mention of the real world. Both Oddworld and the Discworld have black humour, but also some dark, epic storylines that make you think.
Another good writer would be Neil Gaiman, and if we're already pretending that a) We want someone to write OW Books, and b) These writers would ever touch it, then it's not unreasonable to pretend that c) Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman might collaborate, as they did with the excellently dark and hilarious "Good Omens". |
How about Stephen King? I bet he would scare us from ever playing oddworld again.
|
Didn't he retire, lol?
|
I think oddworld books would be a great idea but just about the history of about oddworld like how the glukkons came to power how they enslaved all of the races the history of all the races before industry.
