Hm, I'll consider going.

Beat me to it you speedy ass!!
But.. |
I was going to make a thread for it but I thought it would be better to post it here.
|
Jesus fuck I haven't been this excited in ages!!!
|
My mind is so blown right now

That screenshot is very dark, almost too dark I'd say. Other than that I like the look of it.
|
Abe is good. The rest is meh.
|
I first looked at the screenshot through my TV, and I thought that graphics were a little disappointing, but then a took a look at it on the actually screen of my laptop and thought it looked brilliant, but remember guys, it's early days, there's still a lot to be done yet.

So for comparison’s sake I’m pretty sure that’s a remake of this screen:
http://i.imgur.com/opgFo.png Pretty damn good, I’d say. Missing the signs and LED, but I’m guessing those are either being added later or rejigged somehow. |
well that was interesting...
I don't know why but I keep seeing that thing in the background being plugged into abe :/ |
Yeah, I thought that too at first.
It looks nice, but just a little bit too flat and shiny for my liking. Abe and the metallic domey thing look like they're from a different world than the rest of the scene. Add in some bump mapping and you'll win me over. :D |
Looks great, especially considering this is an early build :D It looks a little pixellated (as a result of the image resolution, no doubt) but the quality of the models is fantastic- you can barely (if at all) see polygons anywhere!
Only thing I would ask is whether it is just a perspective trick, or Abe really is leaning forward that much? Looks a little off-balance! But looking brilliant so far! |
I'm so psyched for this; I just can't wait. I love you Oddworld and Jaw!!

Also holy shit, I think that's the first time I've ever seen something and said aloud: "Oh my God oh my God oh my God!" I can't wait to see it once it's been touched up a little more. This is amazing though. |
The pipes aren't phallic enough.
But seriously, I'm liking this more every time I look at it. Abe looks good, although he appears to be leaning forwards a bit too much. That may look better in some kind of idle animation, but I think it seems a tad unnatural in that screen. I look forward to seeing progress on this. |
This is fantastic, I didn't expect to see anything as substantial this soon! The original game still looked pretty perfect to me even today, but seeing it side by side with the new image it finally looks dated. If that screen is anything to go by, the on screen tutorials and messages have been removed, maybe they've all been put onto the directories/story stones?
My only issue is that Abe's face looks a bit wrong, his eyes and cheeks look sunk down and saggy like a bulldog's. Also it seems to be just his legs which are tilted forward too much, his upper body looks like its just hunched, like it always was. It's great to see Abe rocking 4 fingers again too. Does Eurogamer Expo usually stream conferences online like E3? I really don't want to miss Lorne talking. |
It looks great, but my major problem is with the differences between the platform he needs to jump to in this one, from the original. In the original (while it's made as a tutorial for the hoist function), the giant cylinder underneath the hoist platform does about as good a job as it could have in making the platform's height seem (even just a little) reasonable.
The new version seems to be a giant cement block that raises the next area of the level. Having those objects underneath the platforms also added a lot of detail to the screens; detail being one of the main things that made the original game so fantastic. I have a few other fanboy-ey nitpicks, but that is the only thing that I am legitimately concerned about. I think the shot looks awesome regardless, but I really think some mid-ground action and detail would bring so much more life to the environment in its current state. |
I think it would be boring if every screen looked exactly the same as the old game.
|
That image looks pretty awesome, though I do hope that a lot of the textures are work in progress. Like Nate said, Abe and some of the scenery doesn't match the scene at all.
|
Abe looks great. The model is so well done, he's tilting forward a little bit too much but apart from that it's fantastic to just stare at him for hours on end.
However, I do agree with a few of the comments on here and the Facebook page about the textures. I know this is an early build, and I'd be happy enough to receive this screen as it is in the final game, but it does look very PS2. I too look forward to seeing how this screen comes along, just a bit more finer detail needed, maybe a bit more grub on the walls, that sort of thing. Must say I love the little running Abe on the sign though. It's the icing on the cake. I am thoroughly excited and my appetite has been wet. Well done JAW! |
IMO it's not bad, but I hope it's still pre-alpha version of that level, it's not very detailed (especially the top part - I don't mean the textures here, there's just too few details/objects, the edge of the lower platform doesn't look good as well). The picture is extremely compressed. The Abe looks nice, but I bet it's a straight rip from MO HD

Game looks fantastic so far. Can't wait to play it (hopefully) later this year. Great work, JAW!
|
I’ll also point out that this is far, far more stylistically-appropriate than last year’s concept renders.
|
Those were actually my art test for the company, not real pre-prod tests. The current PR guy at the time got overzealous about those bad (<- important word) boys :p

It looks better than I expected it to.
