Well, as some of you may have seen, the official Oddworld Inhabitants Facebook page has released a competition-esque challenge where people can submit their ideas for the name of Abe HD, and receive glorious prizes in return!

I thought we could discuss names in this thread.. but no theft! Of course as long as you suggest your idea before you post it here there should be no problems.

Just so I know, Abe HD is an Oddysee remake, right? Not an Oddysee+Exoddus remake?

EDIT: Only just have I realised that both 'Oddysee' and 'Exoddus' contain the word 'odd' lol. I can't believe I've only just noticed...

I'm not sure why, but I submitted three suggestions to the website just now:

Oddworld: Abe's New Introdduction
Oddworld: Abe's Crusodde
Oddworld: Abe's New Oddventures

The last two look stupid, but I like the first one. :/

Personally I would just prefer Oddworld Abe's Oddysee HD.

Yes generic I know but it keeps things simple and less confusing for people, plus most HD remakes keep their original titles but add HD to the end.

No, because Munch's Oddysee and Stranger's Wrath both had HD at the end of their names, and they were just graphical overhauls. This is a full blown HD remake with a brand new engine, there needs to be a better name than just Abe HD

I suggested 'Oddworld Revisited: Abe's Oddysee'... I'd rather it didn't stray completely from the original title, and somehow still included the Oddysee part.

I suggested Oddworld: Abe's Oddiversary.
I really like that :)

But is it really an anniversary though?

Consider the remake of the first Tomb Raider game. Built on a brand new engine, with slightly reworked puzzles to fit the new engine, and the story stayed mostly the same.
Thus, Tomb Raider: Anniversary edition.

And also, it will release in 2013, in an odd numbered year anyway :D

I'm almost positive that game was made during the Anniversary of Tomb Raider. Hence the name. And if it wasn't well, that's retarded. :lol:

Also a Odd number doesn't make it a Anniversary of a franchises.

Mine was either Oddworld: The Proddigy, or Oddworld: Soulstorm, I forget.

It was, it was made for the 15th anniversary of the original Tomb Raider. Guess which game was released 15 years ago this September!

I'd stick with Abe's Oddysee: Anniversary Edition or Remastered or something. Or call it by its original title "Soulstorm" as STM said.

I don't think it does need a new name, and that asking the fans is a bad idea... I wonder if it's a sign that Lorne is actually indifferent to what happens to his IP.

But maybe if it really, really needs a new name then I'd probably call it "Oddworld: Rupture Farms" since the game is centred on that damned factory. Then it'll have a new name while still appealing to old fans.

EDIT: Also the submission form doesn't let me send this, but whatever, I'm sure someone thought of it way before me.

Also maybe if this one is called "Oddworld: Rupture Farms", then the games would go in the theme of naming them after their main settings. So it'd be logical to call the Exoddus remake "Oddworld: Soulstorm" instead 'cause of Soulstorm Brew.

Then again what I'm saying is obvious and I'm sure you fine people at JAW have already thought long and hard about this, right? Otherwise you wouldn't be asking fans?
