I paid a fiver for these!
I bought Limbo and Amnesia off Steam, they downloaded fine, but when I try to open Limbo, it attempts to install DirectX, after about a minute it just gives me an error. When I attempt to launch Amnesia, I get the error message straight away, any ideas?

Buy a new computer. Your fiver will not be lost in vain.
I'm using a relatively new Toshiba Satellite, it ran Portal 2 fine, but buying a new PC isn't that simple, there must be something I can do. I'm getting Error Code 80 on both of them.
Google it, you ponce.
He doesn't need to pay out the nose for a new computer or those Geek Squad faggots until he actually researches the problem first and determines that there is absolutely no way to fix it for free. This sounds like a relatively simple problem, one that doesn't require throwing away disposable income to fix.
Ever since I created this thread I've been researching the problem, I just wanted a little extra help from you guys. No one knows exactly what error code 80 is, apparently. Some people have fixed it by updating their graphics card drivers, that's what I'm doing now, but I don't have high hopes.
Most of the results I get are you should re-start Steam and/or your computer. That seems obvious. Others are un-installing and re-installing Steam entirely. These solutions are obviously retarded and probably only work for about 10% of the people experiencing this problem. Good luck.
I think this an appropriate time to post my latest Rage comic. http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...38225820_n.jpg |
Well thanks for the help guys, I've updated my drivers and will try the retard approach now. (IE, restarting shit).
Accurate, no?
I updated all my video and audio card drivers, rebooted my system and it launched! Haven't tried Limbo yet. "Get an new PC"... haha.
Thanks I guess. Better try Limbo. Edit: Yes, Limbo launched too. So I guess this is the only verified thread on the internet with an accurate solution to Error code 80, we now know that it's because of outdated drivers/graphics cards. Spread this across the internet! Don't keep people in the dark! |
The moral of this story: never take Daxter King's advice.

That really hurts my feelings. It took me an entire two minutes to make that comic.
I liked it. But my standards are lowwwww.
Thats a lie, my standards are highhhh |

What are you doing on the internet again?
I never got the le thing.
Me neither, but it's a staple of Rage building so it must be obeyed.
The idea was that they sound like they're trying to be intellectual and nonchalant by casually dropping "French" into their advice, HOWEVER, this is the internet and nothing on the internet can exist for more than 6.37 seconds before being turned into something retarded by the community.
Did I mention I hate everything? |
:
Well, that plus everything else.

I think Rage comics are funny if I can relate to them. I don't think of them as inherently worse by extension of being Rage comics.

Then Id need that nervous rageface guy that goes "y u no give us the solution?!" |
