Gettin' Steamy
http://steamcommunity.com/greenlight/
Discuss, plus any other gripes with Steam as a platform. Oh, and the Summer Seal is still coming apparently, starting with 11 days of indie games. |
Neat
|
It's a cool idea and I'm glad the summer sales are still happening, I'm still waiting to spend money I don't have on games I most likely won't play!
|
Can't you just add non-steam games? it's not a bad idea I guess but yeah, I run pretty much all my games with steam, how would being able to buy them on steam make any difference?
|
Its for smaller devs to get better spotlight, if your game is on Steam it's chances of making you money go up a bunch probably, since it is a large platform. Glad to see them implementing this, since I've heard complaints from smaller devs about how the process of getting in Steam is sometimes frustrating and confusing.
|
Oh, I see now, my mistake, that would be pretty cool then.

No joke is worth that punchline, you son of a bitch.
|
Greenlight sounds like a great idea.
And I'm also glad the Summer Sale is still happening, I got so many good deals last year. :) |
Hum...
|
This is thread necromancy, please don't do it again.

Stop moderating?

To be fair, it was a useless post and had no input to the thread.
But Phlyum's right. |
I think the necromancy thing was a forum meme at some point.
Mac was right, I really need to look these things up. |
You and your OWF memes. You should make a blog-list of them.

Steam is officially coming to linux (ubuntu). The first title will be L4D2.
Discuss it now. I'm not in a mood for that, currently. |
Doesn't affect me, but still, that's cool. The more accessibility the better. And I know there are a lot of gamers that use Linux.
I've never even used it, personally. No. Wait. Once. Then penguins took over my desktop. It was weird. |
Valve is paving the way for cross platform video gaming. I love it.
|
The creator of a couple of games I play and who I've spoken to a few times on IRC was hired by Valve to work on this.
|
Who is it and what games?

There are literally no bad points about Steam coming to Linux. The more platforms the better.

That was a good one.

I bought Amnesia: The Dark Descent off of steam and I am really enjoying this game. I mean I am, seriously. No lie.
No BS here folks. |
After playing a game for half an hour or so on Steam, the frame-rate reduces to a stutter, rendering most games unplayable. With some games, reducing the quality/resolution tends to help, but this can't be done for all games (such as Trine [unless I restart it]). In fact, after quitting, my computer runs much slower too. Any ideas why?
|
It could be overheating, so clean the fluff out of your case first. There are probably some background programs hogging your resouces too. Use msconfig to stop a few things, or download GameBooster to pause them while your games are running. May as well check for updates to your graphics drivers while you're at it, and "Verify Integrity of Game Cache".
These are just general tips, though, since your problem isn't much more specific than "my computer is too slow". |

They're just thinking it.
No, I enjoyed it too. It scared me, sure, but that's just a testament to how good it is at creating atmosphere. Also it taught me some useful things about level design. |
I love it because it scares the fuck outta me every time, The water part is so nerve racking, My hands shake throughout. Amnesia is truly a masterpiece.
