Diablo 3
I bought Diablo 3 yesterday and I'm really enjoying it. There are a few issues with the online, but on the whole it's really good.
I'm on my first playthrough as a monk and really enjoying it. I've only just beaten the Skeleton King, so I'm not very far in yet, but I'm loving what I've played so far. The difficulty is finally starting to pick up after an easy start, but I still feel like I can tank everything with my monk. Always having to be online is a bit annoying, especially given that you can't play singleplayer if the Blizzard servers are full. Also, I was getting latency in singleplayer, which is completely stupid. I kept clipping weirdly then jumping back to the location I was in a few seconds ago. So does anyone else have it yet? |
Same old shit they made back in 2000, with features removed and awful DRM.
Blizzard, ladies and gentlemen! |
I did enjoy the first Diablo but didn't get a chance to get into D2. I'd like to try D3, but Blizzard already take lots of my money from me playing WoW (I'm a PvPer so have a reason to play despite the lack of new content). Sure, I could've got it free with a years WoW sub, but I like to stop playing occasionally and I always un-sub when I do, so that didn't really suit me.
Does D3 live up to its hype? I noticed people disappeared off of WoW for a few days and then came back again. Heh. |
I have some demo codes which will let you play upto the Skeleton King. I can send you one to see if you like it or not.
|
I played the Beta... while not being particulary bad, it feels sometimes like a little step backwards from the series. And I will never forgive them unlimited town portals

As soon as I heard about the DRM, it was pretty much a no-sale for me. I'm not going to buy a game that might be unplayable. That severely stretches the boundaries of "fit for purpose". |
I think they last until level 10 or so. At least that's how they were in Beta.
yeah, games awesome. A lot of online issues that really bother me, but the gameplay definitely makes up for that. It feels a lot different from Diablo II but it still feels like a Diablo game. I've only played it for about two hours so far, and am really enjoying it. I wanna play online with some of you guys when I get a new laptop charger. Also, I've got a bunch of demo codes, too. If anyone wants one just PM me. |

I love the Diablo series, it was probably one of the first if not thee first video game i ever played. I won't lie, i fan-girled over this pretty hard when it was first announced. I got fed up waiting ten fucking years for them to even put a goddamn release date on it though. I bought the collectors addition(well worth it), mainly for the Diablo skull with the soulstone USB drive/digital copy of D2 and Lord of destruction. The game itself is pretty good, there are some classic features i miss like the potions belt. I'm really pissed they put a cool down timer on health potions, which is going to make inferno mode more impossible than it already is. Also ranged classes seem over powered. I'm playing a Demon hunter and rarely get hit due to their back flip around the map fuckery. I haven't tried multiplayer yet, i'm waiting for a few of my friends to get it. I also have some guest passes if anyone wants one. |
I was alarmed the first time I tried to spam heal 2 potions and was hit with a cooldown. Now I'm tentative to drop below half health despite my heal ability.
I'm at level 22 and tanking through Act 2 as a Monk. It's amazing. |
I've seen the Yogscast play it and i'm intrested to give it a go. I've never played any of the Diablo games and with this new one, I feel like i'm missing out slightly.
Also. I cannot say "Diablo" in real life. I have such a hard time pronouncing it for some odd reason. |
Repeat after me: "dee-AB-low".
|
Cheers Meech. You should be a teacher when you grow up.
|
Well this was unexpected.
http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/05/22/di...due-next-week/ Security was their one justification for A-OL DRM. Now that's gone. |
I beat the game on Normal today. The "plot twist" at the end of Act 3 was really, really predictable.
Diablo was fun to fight. I took him down fairly quickly with the help of a barbarian. I'm really liking barb/monk teams. Add a witch doctor and I'm yet to find a situation we can't spam our way through. That said, I'm only just starting Nightmare. |
Are there four acts in this one, just like in Diablo 2?
|
Four acts, although the fourth is really short.
|
|
I'm enjoy D3. Mostly because I ignore all the pricks on the internet moaning about it.
|
I can't agree more. Some of the stuff may not be perfect, but it's still good, grindy fun.
|
It is fun. I finally got my laptop charger back, so if anyone wants to add me, my name's Okagon. I'm very underleveled, though. Highest is 13. So far.

You're not filling me with confidence, Battle.net. God forbid I should actually spend any money. |

Maybe it's simply to do with the player base that they attract: Lots and lots of whiny little kids (such as half of WoW's player base) or people who are nostalgic for the old games, for which D3 can't bring back. Or maybe it's 'cause they put a lot of hype on Diablo 3, and while it's probably a good game, it wasn't the best thing since sliced bread. Or perhaps it's 'cause people except a lot from Blizzard which they can't possibly deliver in a million years 'cause they're not very innovative. Oh yeah and while I'm at it: |
Diablo 3 story in allcaps.
This amused me greatly. This is pretty much the entire story, but I don't think it really spoils anything that isn't completely fucking obvious from the second you get the soulstone, or at least from the start of Act 3. |
So. Facing an endless horde of Error_12s. How do I fight those again?
|

|
No, I asked how to fix the problem. Not how to confirm a setting that was right in the first place.
I've already tried it. It doesn't work. |
Turns out that to fix it, I had to do the opposite of their advice and pick a server in a different location.
Shitty |
I'm glad to do the opposite of help :)
|
Got to Level 10/Skeleton King as Witch Doctor. Still unconvinced, so I'm doing it again as Wizard. Though I must say, the Female Barbarian is very *ahem* fluidly animated. It's like a Newton's Cradle...
