Oddworld-web.au & Oddworld Library sites: Malware alert
I know AbeBabe/Cloverfields Oddworld site is long dead, but I'm pretty sure Oddworld Library isn't. I accidentally mis-clicked on the Oddworld Web link at the top of the OWF page, and Google's malware message appeared. I checked the other sites - Oddworld Library also has been noted by Google to contain malicious software.
Both websites are noted as malicious on Google's search results as well. I wonder why that's happened? Were the sites taken over or something? |
It was infected on the 28th of April according to Wil's twitter.
|
Didn't there used to be a link for Oddchat at the top? Is that permanently dead and gone?
|
@WoF - Oh right, I've kind of left twitter and not everything he posts there is linked to his FB page.
@OANST: Oddchat is still linked at the top while using the native skin, but the java code doesn't seem to work properly. Then again, nobody uses it anymore anyway. |
What happened to those sites? O.o
|
They died after Oddworld did. I think the links should be removed. Maybe replaced them with ones that are still running?
|
Yeah, a couple of people have alerted me to the fact, but frankly I haven't found time to sort it out. I wish I could just flick a switch and turn the website offline for a bit.
Damnit, this is exactly why Oddworld Library needs a web dev who knows what they're doing. How many years have I been looking now? |
Well it kind of depends on how the mallware got there? Was your hosting account hacked and did someone place it there? Or was it injected somehow? Because even a competent web dev can't prevent the first one if there are easy to guess passwords.
