New game about mudokons?
 

Hey guys, I looked through your FAQ before posting this and it said that you won't make a third game about Abe because of "marketing reasons". Now, 13 years later, I would hope that they are resolved so you guys can make another game. It doesn't have to be about Abe, it could be about Abe's descendant.

Abe HD sounds very good but something fresh would perhaps gain the attention of people who weren't aware of the mudokon series. It could perhaps become very big (like Limbo since it is also a 2d side scrolling game with puzzles) and famous.

In case you start thinking about making another abe-like game here are some random ideas:

1. Mudokon attack. You're a slig defending yourself against waves of mudokons. They have tools&slingshots and some will try to control you if you don't shoot them fast enough. Can be played cooperatively online.

2. Talk about Abe's family perhaps. Could be his mother, father or his brothers/sisters.

3. Give the mudokon more powers. Like lifting sligs, some attacks (fireball, ice blast), etc.

That's all that I can think of right now. If you don't like the ideas then just kindly reply so not like : "OMFG, you're such a stupid shit. Get you and your stupid ideas out of here, herp derp herp"

Oh well, instead I'll humor you and take each of your suggestions into consideration.

1. Sounds cheap and gimmicky. Oddworld isn't really a universe that I want to see reduced to Mario Party-style arcade games.

2. Abe and all Mudokons belong to a super species. They all come from the same mother, Queen Sam. They are all siblings, but they are neither brothers or sisters as they are sexless drones. Sam was originally going to be in Munch's Oddysee, but the story was changed and she was cut. It remains to be seen if she will make an appearance in future games.

3. Have you played Munch's Oddysee? Abe already has the ability to lift sligs, and Mudarcher warriors are capable of projectile attacks. They can't throw fire balls, but that falls starkly into the "cheap and gimmicky" category I mentioned earlier. Mudokons are spiritualists, not magicians.

I have some more suggestions

1. Remakes of classic games but set in the Oddworld universe; Tetris with Mudokon heads etc.

2. Abe should get a fucking girlfriend. Seriously.

3. There should be special powerup items that, eg, a spooce shrub that makes Abe grow much larger. Taking damage would reduce him to his normal size rather than killing him. If you find two you can throw those fireballs you mentioned.

Yeah, and XP, levelling, turn-based combat. Oh and stats. Don't forget stats, they're important. x)

Abe uses "Possess" on Slig.

It's super effective!

And there should be loads of cool hats to collect.

Also, make it a Kart racer.

Abe has to have lazers. There wasn't enough fricken lazurs in the 1st 2 games xxxxxxxxxxxxx

1. Awful. Sounds like a free iPhone game.

2. We know that Abe has a mother and we were apparently going to get told about her. So I totally agree with that.

3. I would love to see a Mudokon throw a fireball but I don't think Mudokons could be that powerful.

I think the next Abe game should be a cover based shooter. And everything needs to be grey.

This is basically a description of the last third of Stranger’s Wrath.

Abe should also put on about 250 pounds of muscle mass.

I think the next Abe game should happen in space, with multiple, colourful endings... it should suck, too

I think the next Abe game should have an AK-47 gun, why is he a skinny guy with no weapons? That gives him no character at all, can you imagine if they described him like that? I personally am not a fan of the Oddworld franchise apart from Munch's Oddysee because that had funny bits. There was no atmosphere in the first two games, everything was bleak and I think that can be saved by a Co-op mode with more on-screen explosions than Die Hard.

I think there should be a Stranger's Wrath/Halo erotic crossover. That's what I think.

It should be pretty fucking dark.

You know, Robotnik is an oft-overlooked Oddoworld character. He should get his own game.
