Soundtrack help

Perhaps it's not the right forum but it doesn't say on the forum description it's just for technical or gameplay questions.

I formated my pc recently and I lost a link to a youtube video that included the music from the good ending of exoddus. The problem is that this video had the complete version of the song, not rudelly interrupted by a slig before the end. So, anyone knows where I can find that video or an mp3 version of it? And before anyone tells me to search for it on youtube, I have been all day long so far and I haven't gotten anything. I have also looked for any official or unofficial soundtracks for the game but didn't find what i'm looking for in them. So, can anyone help?

MeechMunchie 04-08-2012 08:01 AM

Search for it on YouTube. :tard:

Varrok 04-08-2012 09:43 AM

You can also look for some official or unofficial soundtracks :tard:

That?

Wil 04-08-2012 12:59 PM

Whoa. What. Where does that come from?

Varrok 04-08-2012 11:42 PM

The YouTube.

EDIT: Oh, I've just realised that wasn't very helpful...

...from Abe's Exoddus.

Wil 04-09-2012 12:42 AM

Where does the music from the end video without voice or sound effects come from?

Varrok 04-09-2012 12:57 AM

He stated (comments section) he ripped it from another video, although he never posted the link. Would be hard to get that info - he's not active since 2011. There are no AE music samples on the archival Oddworld site, I didn't find any AE trailers including the song...

So, basically, I have no idea

MeechMunchie 04-09-2012 04:49 AM

Someone probably just cleaned out the dialogue themselves.

Nate 04-09-2012 05:15 AM

I am 99% sure that he arranged the music himself and recorded it using a synth/MIDI device. The instruments sound quite different to what's in the original audio.

DarkHoodness 04-09-2012 06:58 AM

It was used in the credits for the movie version of Abe's Exodduss cutscenes. I guess it's a rip from that.

Edd wins!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!

Same goes for DarkHoodness and the better quality. Now that we know it exists, maybe JAW or the Oddmob could consider releasing it in any future soundtracks? If they do't, would they mind if we ripped it from the video?

Wil 04-09-2012 11:50 AM

Sure, go ahead and rip the audio.

I'm 99% certain we don't have the movie on file, and 100% certain we don't have the music on file.

Xmobb (previously known as OddMobb) has nothing to do with Oddworld.

There's a reputation system for that (the scales icon at right top of the post) :)

Sorry, appart from lurking the forums waiting for announcements on the release of the HD update, I haven't been keeping track. (just check when I joined the forums and how many posts I have posted :P )

And thanks for reminding me about the rep button, and I just used it.
(thankfully the word button doesn't get flagged by word filters here)

I'm glad I edited my post to give myself 1% of wiggle room in my certainty. :D
Thanks!

I'm going to move this thread to OD as it's not a gameplay or technical question and I think it's a legitimately interesting topic.

How extensive is your audio archive there Wil? I'd like get my grubby little hands on "This is Rupture Farms..." without the backing music.

EDIT: Oh wait. You want the other way around - Not the backing music without the voices.

Okay I fail then, nevermind. :P

Possibly, but re-recorded for the test trailer, and possibly not finalized versions. I'd have to do some digging around in the archives.

Someone wanted the Abe's Exodduss ending music as well!? I wasn't alone! Heh. :)
I used Audacity to rip the music from, yup, the movie version of Abe's Exodduss a loong time ago. I loved it so much, and still do!~

And I don't mind if anyone rips it from the video. Not at all. Spread the beautiful, rare soundtrack!~ I ripped it solely to let anyone else who wanted to listen to it without the Slig interrupting. Also, that's my twin's youtube account; I made the Oddworld videos. ;)

Sekto Springs 04-16-2012 11:04 AM

Problem with audacity and other vocal-removing software is that no matter how you adjust the levels, you always have quality loss. The software isn't sophisticated enough to remove vocals without also skimming at least one layer of percussion.

OddYouko 04-16-2012 01:23 PM

Yeah. That's a major thing I hate about using it.
I don't know of any other program, free program, good enough to remove noises/vocals though.
It even probably made the theme sound a little weird just by recording it.

If anyone listens to the Ending music with headphones, please let me now if the sound comes from both speakers or just one. I listened to it, but the sound only comes from my left speaker.
