Tabletop RPG's

I like them.

Tell me about them in relation to you.

GO.

Ridg3 01-22-2012 09:25 AM

I tried playing Warhammer 40k and I couldn't for the life of me find why people found it interesting. I'm not going to write all tabletop RPG's off yet until I've exhausted them all.

Until then, however, I'll stick to my RPG's in video game format.

MeechMunchie 01-22-2012 09:48 AM

I like 40k as an idea but rarely play it.

I've inherited my brother's D&D sourcebooks and leaf through them occasionally, but was never interested enough to play.

STM 01-22-2012 10:13 AM

Hrmm, I've read the Call of Cthulu RPG book, 8th edition I think, a D&D volume, the Rogue Trader books I've also read three or four warhammer 40k codexes and yet, I've never played a proper game of any.

It's something I'd be interested in but can't really do because...and this sounds really shitty but...because I have to maintain a sort of image in real life.

Daxter King 01-22-2012 10:24 AM

They seem really fun, but I've never really bothered to get into them. I played it once at a local Warhammer shop and it was fun. Board games are more of my thing.

Anonyman! 01-22-2012 10:53 AM

i never got into wargames either, but i play shadowrun, pathfinder, changeling: the lost, rogue trader, and l5r pretty often.

MeechMunchie 01-22-2012 10:55 AM

NERD

Mudokon_Master 01-22-2012 01:52 PM

Always wanted to try D&D but never got 'round to it.
They don't interest me a great deal.

Nepsotic 01-22-2012 03:14 PM

I played warhammer once but could never get into it.

moxco 01-22-2012 07:41 PM

I have some D&D miniatures and stuff.

Sekto Springs 01-22-2012 08:27 PM

I painted Warhammer figures as a hobby, but I never actually played the game. I'd love to get back into painting 40k figures, but I never have the time these days. :(

Strike Witch 01-23-2012 07:42 AM

I have 2000 points of Warhammer Chaos Space Marines.

I like painting stuff, it's a decent hobby.

OANST 01-23-2012 08:04 AM

I like Monopoly.

Nepsotic 01-23-2012 08:21 AM

Oh my god, hello!

plus they cost a bomb.

STM 01-23-2012 08:22 AM

That's why you wait for someone else to come out of the shop, beat them, take their bags and run.

I like Monopoly.

Ah yes, the boot is a difficult character to inhabit.

Nepsotic 01-23-2012 08:25 AM

the car! everyone wants the car.

i buy warhammer paint, but thats it.

Not if you know where to go.
One box of 40k Ork Boyz plus a dictionary-sized catalogue of "bitz" for conversions will last you months. Maybe years, depending on your speed. The Citadel paint pots can set you back quite a bit, which is usually why I would just by primaries and mix my own colors.

Nepsotic 01-23-2012 08:28 AM

i have a bunch of old uncrafted warhammer stuff under my bed, probably sell it.

Mac Sirloin 01-23-2012 10:32 AM

I like 40K a lot, I have about 5 of the Black Library books sitting around here. I also have a little group of about 6 Orks. I'll post a picture of them when I get around to it.

STM 01-23-2012 11:07 AM

I think the 40k lore is more interesting than the miniatures in most instances.

Anonyman! 01-23-2012 01:09 PM

Caring for them is fun though

Sekto Springs 01-23-2012 01:12 PM

Warhammer Miniatures are great fun to assemble and paint, especially if you're a conversion nut like yours truly.

Also, you discipline the fuck out of your hands painting those tiny buggers. It's like performing surgery, only harder.

STM 01-23-2012 01:14 PM

Eh, I liked the assembly but detested the painting because I'll be fucked if I made more than 4 models that looked like they should have done on the front of the boxes. It's not like the Tau and Necrons are hard to do either. I even bought a Monolith a few years back but never finished painting it.

Mm-hmm. I've got a shoebox full of converted (rather well, if I say so myself) minatures. It breaks my heart that I'll probably never find the time to paint them.

Here's a Chaos Dreadnought I made.

Here are some transports and vehicles.

And here is my leader guy.

Anonyman! 01-23-2012 07:07 PM

I wouldn't have pegged you as a Kayoss Mehreen, Ghost.

Strike Witch 01-23-2012 07:27 PM

I like all the spiky arrowy bits and silliness.

STM 01-24-2012 09:29 AM

I'm more of an ork or necron guy myself. XD

Those aren't half bad paint jobs though.

Sekto Springs 01-24-2012 09:30 AM

I painted some bad ass, super-colorful Orkz. I have them packed away somewhere. I wonder if they're even still in tact.
