Went on www.oddworld.com today and theres some sort of a blackout/protest with a white screen of text:

But the Wikipedia articles for SOPA and PIPA haven't been blacked out.

It's all because of this fucking SOPA thing that I've only heard of just now. Real fuckin' inconvenient. Fuckin' hippies and their whining, interrupting my shows and internets and whatnot. I bet that if the grubberments actually does shut shit down, it'll be them damn ol' hippies fault, too.

Well I got them beat. I already castrated myself for this occasion. HURTS LIKE A MOTHERFUCK, BUT AT LEAST I SHOWED THEM HIPPIES.

Seriously, though, good on 'em. I'd participate, but from what I gather historically, "blacking myself out" would only be misconstrued as an offensive jab at a painful point in their history.

It was okay for a short while when EA was their publisher and threatened to buy them out. Now... no.

If I organised you a surprise party, you wouldn't know about it in advance, but you can be damned sure that I've scheduled the date and time.

I was glad to see oddworld.com joined the protest when I went see the site yesterday.

SOPA and PIPA are tipically the kind of crap oddworld stands against so I would have been disapointed not to see anything done on their side.

What pisses me off is the sites that host freely watchable movies/ tv episodes and they have the cheek to have the same SOPA protest banners up, even though what theyre doing is blatantly wrong.

@Nate I didnt say that was my understanding of the word 'unscheduled' so save your lecture. I was saying it's probably what THEY (stewart gilray) meant... ^^

PIPA and SOPA are like DRM. They won't stop piracy, they will just ruin everything for everyone who follow the rules.

We decided spontaneously in the morning to do it, and five minutes later it was done. That's why our blackout was so less well done that lots of other websites'.

EA never threatened to buy out Oddworld Inhabitants.

Can I just take the opportunity to say I really like the new site? It's really pretty.

Also needs more big wallpapery stuff.

Wasn't there at some point talks of a companynot supporting OWI with marketing so they would starve them out and more easily be bought over?

I'd like to take this opportunity to say that I love the new site—so much more professional than the last one—except for one thing: the contrast on the dark squares is too high, making the text on it ever so slightly harder to read. Not much, but enough to be frustrating. For me, anyway.
