-ddcheat Demos
Here's an interesting little thing I noticed,
I got the -ddcheat working for AE, I started the game and just wanted to make sure it worked, so I pressed Tab and it worked, but I didn't put Abe back to normal, I simply pressed ESC and quit back to the main menu, the debug menu was still visible in the top left at the main menu, but after leaving it for a while a demo started up, but instead of the demos running as usual, they were running in -ddcheat mode to the point where the game started to move Abe up through platforms and other cool magic tricks you an perform whilst using it. I find this interesting, because surely somebody would have had to record the demo's in -ddcheat mode for the game to know what it's supposed to be doing. |
lol that's awesome, little did we know Abe was secretly a wizard.
|
The demos are just recordings of keys and for how long they're pressed. So in ddcheat mode in a demo this is what you're seeing.
|
Yeah but were the recordings for the demos made in -ddcheat mode,
Why would they do that? |
There was some button combo on psx to do like triangle and R2 or something..
|
That's weird. I would have thought they'd record actual gameplay, but then again that would use a lot of space.
|
And the quality would suffer,
Just look at the AO gameplay clips from the backstory in AE. |
Yeah, almost like it was recorded with Hypercam O.o

1997,
I can only assume they had a VCR hooked up to the TV and simply pressed record. |
So do the demos go into the files? What file type would they be?
