any new news on doom 4?
 

hi,i've been hearing some news about doom 4.
like,it's being made on a new ID tech engine.(ID tech 4 i believe.)
since PC processors and GPU's are stronger (or atleast can be,)the game will look more graphically impressive.it will also be ported home consoles.but will have worse graphics.and it is scheduled to come out next year i believe.

that's all the new i know of.is there anything i'm missing?

Well, we do have a sub-section here called 'Non Oddworld Gaming'.

id Tech 5, and no one knows any real info about it. Probably see some stuff soon though, since Rage is out they can focus their stuff on Doom 4.

I imagine it will be slightly brighter.

From what I've heard, Rage is pretty much Doom 4.

Rage is nothing like Doom, but that's definitely where all their time and planning of the last decade has gone.

I love Id, but they fail hardcore at PR. Unless Rage is a big success, I don't think we'll be seeing much more of Id. Doom and Quake were groundbreaking for their time. The consensus on Rage so far is that it's anything but groundbreaking. So yeah. Best of luck to them.

iD will be fine, Zenimax is funding them, so they aren't going anywhere anytime soon. If they were still independent you might be right, but they aren't. I have a feeling Rage sales will be adequate, but nothing spectacular, just like Rage itself.

Ooh please do. I probably enjoy predicting and looking over game sales and figures than actually playing games themselves these days. That is, if you were speaking of asking about Rage sales figures.

And would they tell you without making you sign an NDA?

Seriously, even if there was a chance id was in money troubles it's not like half the industry wouldn't just leap to their aid anyway. I don't think there's a single game company out there that hasn't benefited from them, indirectly or not.

Rage is Doom if you replaced all the monsters with humans, set it in a very dry and boring post-apocalyptic place, and had even less of a plot.

Rage is better than Doom 3 at least. Atmospheric as hell, (HA) but lacking in the gameplay.

Doom 3 was awesome and from what I've heard, Rage is pretty damn mediocre.

Doom 3 was not awesome.

Quake 3 however was the best FPS I've played in my life.

It left about the same sort of impression that Unreal Tournament and Timesplitters Future Perfect did.

I love all of id's games...including Keen, Hovertank and Catacombs. I just hope Doom 4 changes the formula up a bit.

Doom 3 was pretty good I thought. Never played Quake 3 though...

Play Quake Live now then, I've heard it's essentially the same game.

Quake Live is the same game as Quake 3.

yeah,doom 3 was pretty damn awesome...i have the x-box (original) version...

I played it on PC a while ago, I got freaked out by it in parts.
