Steve Jobs has died

http://www.apple.com/

I dont really follow apple stuff, but wasn't just he at the press conference yesterday? I dont leave my house without my iPod and a Mac was my family's first computer, either way he knew how to push new technology. RIP Steve Jobs, you visionary.

EDIT: Cant edit titles? An unfortunate typo to have.

enchilado 10-05-2011 05:03 PM

Apple sucks, but Steve Jobs was the bomb. RIP Steve.

DarkHoodness 10-05-2011 07:03 PM

Well, at least he's left a massive legacy and will be remembered for a long time after his death. And that's more than a lot of people leave behind them.

Mr. Bungle 10-05-2011 08:13 PM

Poor guy. He's got quite the legacy behind him. RIP.

He wasn't in good shape, but I wasn't expecting this. As much as I dislike Apple products, there's no denying he did some awesome things, hell, why was the iPod so popular?

JennyGenesis 10-06-2011 12:27 AM

I had no clue about this, I thought it was a joke when I read the tread title.

Piral 10-06-2011 12:43 AM

It...disturbs me when things just *happen* like this.
I'm not exactly nutty about iPods myself, but I know they're pretty good at what they do.

Wil 10-06-2011 12:58 AM

Having seen his health over the last few months, I'm not shocked. I saw this coming. But that makes it no less of a loss.

It didn't just happen. I'd bet money that when he retired in August, he knew he didn't have long to go.

It vaguely bothers me that everyone credits Jobs for Apple's success. Sure, he was an inspirational leader and pushed for high standards, but much of the success for the iPod and other products must lie with Jonathan Ives and the countless other engineers and programmers who made them work. But then that might just be the resentful engineer in me saying that.

Also, my joke of the day is: Will Steve Jobs' gravestone be a blank, white, polished marble slab?

Crashpunk 10-06-2011 01:53 AM

I liked PC over Macs but it didn't have to end like this! NOT LIKE THIS!? RIP Steve.

Also my mate is a huge Apple fanboy, He is most likey going to cry...

:

Jobs leaves an estimated $8.3bn, but he often dismissed others' interest in his wealth. "Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn't matter to me … Going to bed at night saying we've done something wonderful … that's what matters to me."
Truly an inspirational man.

Wil 10-06-2011 02:55 AM

Uh huh. Who does he leave it to?

Crashpunk 10-06-2011 03:15 AM

Some guy called Tim Cook is the new Chairman of Apple. Apparetly Steve quit Apple in August so he's been in charge since then.

STM 10-06-2011 06:26 AM

I didn't know the guy, I don't know much about him, his death has little impact on me whatsoever, I couldn't muster more than a 'that's a shame' attitude today really. Nevertheless, thanks for the Ipod nano I've had since 2007 Jobsy, still going strong.

R.I.P though.

Wil 10-06-2011 07:13 AM

You dont't win any awards for tact.

Havoc 10-06-2011 07:27 AM

I never do.

Dixanadu 10-06-2011 08:11 AM

I'm on the same boat as STM.

I really don't care if he's dead. I'm not reveling in it, either.

I just... nothing it.

By the way, anyone hear any good jokes about it yet?

Havoc 10-06-2011 08:15 AM

Well you know how they say that when you die, you see your entire life flash before your eyes? That didn't happen for Steve.

Ridg3 10-06-2011 09:47 AM

Bill Gates: 1
Steve Jobs: 0

Up above is, unfortunately, the only thing I could really muster on the topic. A clever man? Yes. A horrific loss in the technology industry? Nope.

Havoc 10-06-2011 09:50 AM

Apparently you don't know half of what Steve Jobs created over the years.

Because iProducts are eschewing Flash, right?

Right.

Maybe not. All I know is that someone else is going to come along and make new tech regardless of his passing.

Same... its sad that yet another person had to die. but a lot of people do. poor people ._.

STM 10-06-2011 11:37 AM

Why poor people? Everyone dies, why be sad or scared about it?
