Arenas: Season 2

So in late 2009 I signed my talents both in music and art to a little webseries titled "Arenas". As of today, I am working heavily on material for Season 2.

"Arenas" is the brainchild of former Id Software agent Joe Goss and "Red Vs. Blue" producer Jack Pattillo. It is essentially a narrative based on Quake 3, encompassing characters from both the Quake and Doom series. Fans of the series will recognize it's characters.

Doomguy (known as just "Doom" in this canon) from the titular game is the protagonist. "Sarge" from Quake 3, serves as the deuteragonist. The two of them team up with several other classic Id characters ("Ranger" from Quake 1, "Bitterman" from Quake 2, etc.). They are gladiators, forced to fight against their will in a planet-sized Colosseum for the amusement of a super race known as the Vadrigar. The Vadrigar have kidnapped each gladiator from their respective times and locations and pitted them against one another in eternal conflict.

Season 1 concluded in 2010. It was funded entirely out of Joe's own pocket and took him 3 years to complete.
I'm signed on for Season 2 as full-time composer and conceptual artist, replacing composer Kevin Reipl who went on to score for the Gears of War series (some big shoes to fill). Prior to me, no custom designs were being made for Arenas, and Joe had been using models from the original games as well as models made for him by freelance sculptors. Here's some of my artwork for Season 2...

In addition to illustration and music, I'm also doing some sound fx mapping, and designing detailed new skins for all of the models.

Oh, and matte paintings...

And voice acting, but I have no clips of that yet. :D

Season 2 is barreling full-steam ahead, and promises to be a highly ambitious undertaking for everyone involved. For extra funding, Joe put together a Kickstarter proposal. For those of you not familiar with Kickstarter, it's basically a site where you pitch an idea and receive donations from people who want to see your finished project. We're hoping to raise $7500 in just over a month.

Here's the Kickstarter pitch video, featuring some music composed by yours truly in the background.

If any of you are interested in donating, go here. Backers are rewarded depending on how much is donated. The rewards are listed on the right side of the page. :)

Good luck man, it's pretty amazing to see your concept art. If I can, I'll buy the stuff once it hits the market.

We've already raised $210 on our first day on Kickstarter. I certainly hope every day yields such a turn-out.

Well best of luck.

Like I said, if I can find a microphone or a booth, you can count on me to give you some lines. JUST MAKE SURE THEY GET IN THE FINAL PRODUCT THIS TIME YOU FABRIC

I can't remember if I ever said how awesome this is, but I will assume I didn't, and am therefore telling you now.
