Important Stranger's Wrath Question *pos Spoilers?*

Has anyone here got some saves in various areas after getting the surgery bid, but before being found out to be a steef?

If you have can you please check for me to see if there surgery bid is in your inventory at all times until you're captured?

I would really appreciate this, we've just deleted all our save games because the save game structure has changed, and cheating doesn't give you the surgery bid.

pos spoiler?
Better put BIG spoiler in the title.

In my xbox version, you never see the actual papers with the surgery on them apart from in the cut scenes. But that's not the PC thing, it's from 2005. Maybe another member should back me up on this though.

Surgery bid?? I remember no such thing from the game. Someone explain to me?

STM 09-09-2011 08:53 AM

I think he means the papers with the moolah cost written on them the Doc gives you.

Nate 09-09-2011 06:08 PM

I think he might mean the point where you've earned 20,000 moolah. But I still don't know what he means by surgery bid in inventory.

Dipstikk 09-09-2011 08:33 PM

You never get the surgery in the game. I don't know what a "surgery bid" is.

...You wouldn't happen to be hinting at a possible alternative storyline that's new to the game but still in development, would you? Because it sounds like a stretch, but that would be awesome. Stranger's own "Bad" ending.

Sekto Springs 09-09-2011 09:35 PM

Surgery bid, as in negotiating the price with the Vykker.

Dipstikk 09-09-2011 10:33 PM

Ohhh, I get it now. Mr. Gilray wants to know if the surgery papers are an actual item that takes up a slot in your inventory... for those still wondering, I mean.

Nate 09-09-2011 11:39 PM

Yes, except that Glitch isn't Stewart Gilray and we're still not entirely sure what he means. So that would make it more of a 'no'.

The surgery bid appears in your inventory after you see Doc and presumably persists there until the De-Pantsing. However, because level skipping to Buzzarton or Mongo Valley fails to spawn the bid in your inventory, and because JAW's own save games are now useless, the question is going out to people who started the game legitimately, at what exact point does the bid disappear from your inventory?

I would take a stab that it disappears after the fight with Caste Raider, but I can’t confirm that for sure without playing through the game again.

I also didn’t know that ever appeared as an inventory item.

I had a quick look at my current playtrough save file (rescue Eugene Ius in Buzzarton) and the bid is in my inventory. Also checked an old save file (Mongo Valley, X'Plosives Mcgee) and the bid is also still present in my inventory.

Just had a quick look through my saves too - The bid is present in my inventory in the autosaves from the point after Stranger sees the Doc, to the Elbowz Freely section in Mongo Valley (but I haven't gotten further than that on the PC version).

Hello ladies and gentlemen. Sorry for the lack of replys; totally blanked on this thread... I should probably try and get more sleep :P

I'm sorry my question assumed that some things were obvious; when you spend over a month making menus (twice), you kind of forget that not everyone knows everything about them.

The surgery bid is an item you get in your inventory after your encounter with the Vykker Doc. The one that says how much your surgery will cost. It sits in your inventory, but I wasn't sure how long it stayed there (it's called surgery bid in the game files, hence my potentially confusing choice of words).

I needed to know because I'm redesigning the inventory screen and was looking at my options. I've sorted it now thanks to your help.

Keep an eye on the JAW site; there may just be a dev diary about the new ui written by yours truly showing up soon (providing I get around to writing it).

A man after my own heart.

Sorry Max, it'll happen soon. I promise!
