Abe HD Editing

Do you guys suppose that if we were to get in contact with JAW or OI, either through email, twitter, facebook, etc. we could somehow convince them to integrate Paul's editor with Oddysee and Exoddus HD? The possibilities for new levels and ideas are endless :D

Since it's being coded from scratch, Paul's level editor would not work for Abe HD.

You could ask them to make a level editor, though.

im not sure but i heard somewhere that an official editor will be released with abe hd

Can you post a link?
I could Google it but I wouldn't know where to look.

I don't think it's as easy as it sounds unfortunately. Abe HD will never be as editable as the first game. It's quite a difference because in the original AO/AE, the background was just images, however, now it's going to be 3D models at a 2D perspective. 3D scenes will be much harder to edit to get exactly what you want it like. Also, the placement of objects and scenery will be harder as well.

It's most likely they give us a very basic level editor at most.

or JAW could always just release the programs they use to make the levels and animations etc.. like portal 2 did.

maybe I'm jumping the gun here but if that were to happen, would we eventually see the rise of 2D again? ♥

hm i cant find it on fb but i think lorne commented that there will be an level editor, that was months ago so its pretty hard to find in these thousands of questions :/

Anyone remember that game Alien Homonid? (at least I think that was the name!). That was back on the ps2, it was sort of a 2D arcade game and even that came with a a pretty nifty level editor. Not the best, but it suited me. Even with something simple like that i'm sure tons of fans would satisfied.

Alien Hominid contained a simple platformer with a neat level editor as a minigame that was completely irrelevant to the rest of the game.

The community (basically us...) have been asking for a user friendly level editor for literary a decade. With a new engine that's being built from scratch, we better get one TBH. Would add tremendously to the replay value. Actually, general modding ability would be nice.
