The Humble Indie Bundle 3

Pay what you want for the independent games Crayon Physics Deluxe, Cogs, VVVVVV, Hammerfight, and And Yet It Moves.

Dynamithix 07-26-2011 04:40 PM

Cool, definitely going to buy the pack.

Wil 07-27-2011 01:47 AM

I got the first bundle. The second was half games I already had and half games that didn't appeal to me. But this bundle looks ace, deffo getting it.

Phylum 07-27-2011 02:29 AM

This looks really good. I'll buy it if possible.

EDIT: Bought it. VVVVVV is downloading. I've wanted this game for fucking months. Next in queue is Crayon Physics.

Manco 07-27-2011 03:24 AM

I bought And Yet It Moves separately a while back, I can definitely say that it alone is worth getting the bundle for.

Phylum 07-27-2011 04:03 AM

I played Crayon Physics and fucking loved it. It's a bit simple, but it's equally a joy to play. Hammerfight has slightly frustrating controls, but I'm starting to get used to them and having a bit of fun killing shit. VVVVVV is great. I'm yet to try AYIM and Cogs, but AYIM especially looks brilliant.

STM 07-27-2011 10:49 AM

Hmm, this bundle looks interesting, VVVVVV is ok, I played it in the past, it shouldn't cost anything though because it simply doesn't give the gamer enough to have any monetary value behind it.

...

You're kidding right?

Crashpunk 07-27-2011 03:11 PM

I got the Potato Pack when Portal 2 was around the corner. It had all the best Indie games i know in it so i won't be getting this.

Phylum 07-28-2011 01:53 AM

How narrow minded.

The demo doesn't give the best indication of how good the full game is. I feel daunted by the size of VVVVVV.

MeechMunchie 07-28-2011 02:37 AM

I never played more than the demo of VVVVVV because I was worried it would turn out ot be massive and consume the next four months of my life.

AYIM is very good, together with VVVVVV it justifies the buy, and Cogs looks mighty intertesting. I might get the bundle.

VVVVVV and AYIM actually share a bit of territory, but I like AYIM for the soundtrack, and also how instinctive it becomes; Twisting the world mid-jump as you bound between two perpendicular planes, leaping towards the ceiling and waiting to descend slightly before flipping it round to become the floor.

Phylum 07-28-2011 02:41 AM

VVVVVV isn't huge. I'd put no more than 3 hours on the main story. Fucking hair-ripping 3 hours, though. There are also shiny trinkets to find, which would add a few more hours. Speedruns and other game modes add even more time.

There's also a level editor.

So it won't eat months, but it will eat enough time to justify buying it.

I played 8 minutes of Cogs. The learning curve was a bit steeper than I anticipated, but it seems like a good game.

I'm not saying the Bundles and the games are bad or anything. I'm just saying i've already got most of them thats all.

anyway, I played VVVVVV not long ago and really loved it. It was hard as nails in some parts. especially the level where you had to fall and avoid all the spikes then go back to same way :fuzmad:

Actually, that's not what you said. You said that you had all the best indie games you knew of. I didn't realise that they were the same as the games that were in this bundle.

If you haven't finished it yet, AYIM's final world is absolutely worth pushing through the rest of the game for - without wanting to spoil it, it's a beautiful marriage of soundtrack and level environment.

Of course I have! How dare you! I got it in Humble Indie Bundle #1 a few years back. I seem to remember later recommending it to you.

Manco 07-29-2011 08:35 AM

Sorry! Reading your post I assumed you'd only just bought in Bundle #3. Didn't realise it was in the first.

I don't remember why I originally bought it, but I don't think it was recommended to me.

Wil 07-29-2011 08:59 AM

I got the original Humble Indie Bundle, AYIM was not part of it.

MeechMunchie 07-30-2011 12:03 PM

Well it was some indie bundle on Steam. It had AYIM, Osmos, Galcon Fusion, World of Goo and Machinarium.

enchilado 07-31-2011 01:45 AM

The Humble Indie Bundle #1 contained Aquaria, World of Goo, Lugaru HD, Penumbra: Overture, Gish, and (later) Samarost 2.

Unfortunately I missed the second - a real pity, since - I believe - Super Meat Boy was a part of it.

This is actually the fourth Humble Bundle - the third was the Humble Frozenbyte Bundle, with Trine, Shadowgrounds, Shadowgrounds Survivor, Jack Claw, and Splot. Only one I've played yet is Trine, which is pretty cool even if the graphics aren't as good as they looked in the trailer.

I haven't bought this one yet, as I'm still waiting for the money to go into my Paypal account.

Dynamithix 08-02-2011 01:15 PM

Just got the bundle. Really nice games.

Here's my Desura key, I don't need it:

HIB3A-35AM1-NAREJ-X078Y-KQS7Y

I'm very kind.

STM 08-02-2011 01:27 PM

That code doesn't work and what's Desura?

Dynamithix 08-02-2011 01:30 PM

It's not for Steam. It's for Desura. Google is a friend.

STM 08-02-2011 01:32 PM

Oh I tried that but thought it was a game, the Desura client didn't register with me.

EIDT: I installed the series, so thank you very much. Pos rep for your kindness! =)

Crayon Physics Deluxe is nice but a bit glitchy when you draw through something. Also very easy so far.

Cogs has insanely disappointing graphics, but the puzzles are probably okay.

VVVVVV is awesome.

Hammerfight doesn't work on my computer - I couldn't even get past the story bit in the beginning. My processor doesn't like those growing roses, apparently.

I haven't played And Yet It Moves or Steel Storm: Burning Retribution yet.

STM 08-02-2011 02:06 PM

VVVVVV is better than I remember, Oddworldy in gameplay, minus the anti-grav.

Crashpunk 08-03-2011 06:49 AM

Its nothing like Oddworld?

If it was, it would be Oddworld on Crack or Abe on Crack whichever.

STM 08-03-2011 10:23 AM

¬_¬ you need to read things better, 'Oddworldy in gameplay, minus the anti-grav'

i.e. dodging hazardous objects, linear platformer levels, side scrolling, a variety of basic AI's, falling objects and the sort. That is the definition of Oddworld and VVVVVV gameplay is it not? ;)

Manco 08-03-2011 10:28 AM

You just described the definition of "2D platformer", not "Oddworld".

STM 08-03-2011 10:32 AM

Oh let's not forget the save your crew bit.

But also, yeh, suppose I did.
