The Facebook Thread

Hey guys havent been on in a while so how you all been? ;)

but anyway to the point ive been annoyed with facebook lately and i can't be bothered making a blog if it's only going to last 2 days so i made a thread :D

so has anyone noticed how facebook is getting really annoying lately? i mean seriously it's always getting changed and the new chat system means that it lags all the time :fuzmad: also whats up with all these little 11 year old kids making facebook and spamming friend requests to me! i mean seriously go back to your runescape or adventure quest or whatever those kids play these days...

but anyway im gunna add a poll so "facebook"??? Yay or Nay???

JennyGenesis 07-17-2011 04:31 PM

NAY!

For so many reasons,

One I will point out, you know when people get to their teenage years their parents seem to embarass them all the time? My parents reached a new embarassment level, thanks to Facebook...

Though I won't deny that it is one of my tools for life right now, it's one of the ways I have contact with my boyfriend whilst he's away.

Sekto Springs 07-17-2011 04:47 PM

I haven't really had any trouble with facebook other than some of their more annoying changes in architecture. If you're getting flooded with friend requests, try changing some of your privacy settings.

JennyGenesis 07-17-2011 04:51 PM

I was getting flooded with requests from pricks I hate,

So I changed my name to a name that some know me by and a name that certain pricks wouldn't thinking of searching for me by.

metroixer 07-17-2011 05:24 PM

facebook more like Fbook am i right fellas

STM 07-17-2011 05:31 PM

I have fb cuz I be so popular innit.

Seriously I like fb because I can always be talking to my friends.

Dynamithix 07-17-2011 05:37 PM

I like Facebook in general, it's a good way to keep contact with friends that you don't see often and to share a video/song whatever, but one of the things I really hate is that they update the layout all the time but they don't even try to fix the damn chat.

It has so many bugs and it lags all the time.

STM 07-17-2011 05:40 PM

FARMVILLE, CITYVILLE, COCKVILLE.

metroixer 07-17-2011 05:56 PM

who remembers mysapce??? good times

STM 07-17-2011 06:08 PM

Friends Reunited before that.

Tadimo 07-17-2011 11:15 PM

To me Facebook is an easy way to stay in contact and promote my business ;)

The games and such on Facebook look pretty crappy though.

Phylum 07-17-2011 11:59 PM

Facebook can be good. I don't use it much anymore because I don't care about what half of my friends do. I tend to leave it open in the background anyway incase people want to contact me.

I don't understand why everyone says everything they change is bad, though. When they first implement things they tend to be a bit buggy, but as of late I've liked most of the changes. They really improved the groups and pages in the major UI overhaul. The sidebar is great, too. It's much more efficient.

DarkHoodness 07-18-2011 12:33 AM

It's good for keeping in touch with people who live far from you - Though I feel people tend to rely on it too much as a tool for maintaining friendships, rather than visiting those friends face to face and talking to/doing stuff with them. Bit sad to see really.

I stopped really checking mine. Half my friends on there either don't do anything interesting enough for me to comment on (and vice versa with me for them, I guess :( ) or have most of their posts in a language that I can't speak well enough to respond with what I'd want to.

I don't think anyone's stupid enough to sacrifice face to face encounters for Facebook chats.

I know what you mean, two friends of mine talk to their mum over Facebook, just for things like, dinner is ready come and get it, and stuff like that

AND THEY LIVE IN THE SAME HOUSE!

Is it really that hard to use your voice these days?

The only time I've spoken to my mum on Facebook is when I've been away, apart from that, we like to speak face to face.

You'd be surprised.

I don't have a Facebook myself as I'm leery about them selling my personal info, plus the whole debacle relating to uploaded photos and copyright.

I might cave in and get one though as I have some old friends I'd like to re-establish contact with.

I know what you mean, what your put in your info affects what advertisement you see on the website, the only adverts I seem to get are ones for gay events in Germany,

Because my profile states I'm a male interested in males and I'm from Germany (I'm really not I just didn't want to put my real location on there)

moxco 07-18-2011 04:18 AM

I have procrastination problem. Facebook seems to distract me from useful procrastination; jobs I wouldn't usually do (like cleaning) unless I'm trying to put off something.

So I generally try to avoid it.

STM 07-18-2011 04:46 AM

I talk to my brother in facebook when we are in different rooms to be honest, but then, only to share music links and stuff.

Ridg3 07-18-2011 05:27 AM

Bebo anyone?

I dislike Facebook and I suppose that's all I have to say on the matter.

Wings of Fire 07-18-2011 05:33 AM

I hated Bebo before I used it, I hated Bebo while I was using it and I definitely hate Bebo now.

The only social networking site I can stomach nowdays is Twitter.

Crashpunk 07-18-2011 06:49 AM

I don't Hate facebook, I hate people on it.

STM 07-18-2011 06:51 AM

I don't hate people on facebook...primarily because anyone that can communicate with me is a friend, and funnily enough I don't hate my friends. People who moan about facebook are just failing at being indie. Embrace the book. EMBRACE IT.

Sekto Springs 07-18-2011 09:06 AM

Anyone who can communicate with you is your friend? Is your idea of a girlfriend a girl you met waiting in a dentist's waiting room who was willing to spend five seconds talking to you about why Ugg boots combined with short-shorts is the best thing to happen to fashion since zippers?

immensely popular and mainstream social network = indie

I'm so hipster I'm waiting for Diaspora to go into open beta.

Dixanadu 07-18-2011 11:15 AM

Bebo was alright before they forced the whole new profile scheme on everyone. After that, everyone just flocked to Facebook.

I don't bother with Facebook that much anymore. It has become a bit shit with the new chat system which I can't seem to operate.

Crashpunk 07-18-2011 12:08 PM

Anyone rememeber Piczo?

STM 07-18-2011 12:12 PM

Maybe Oddmobb will revolutionise social networking. But probably not.

Crashpunk 07-18-2011 12:14 PM

Yeah i don't see OddMobb or any other social networking site ever catching on.

Question: what came first Twitter or Facebook
(if it was Facebook, That comment I just said is invalid :tard:)

STM 07-18-2011 12:16 PM

Wait you don't see any social networking site catching on? It's been twenty years and the popularity of SN is still massively growing year on year. Get with the times CP gawsh!
