Go through the setup normally, make sure you select the one below typical install (level files and stuff I think) then when it asks to install directx press yes. It'll do whatever it needs to. Now run it without the disk by double clicking abewin.exe in the game's directory. It'll come up with a message, press continue about 3 times and it will start. Next, turn the game off and run with the disk, again clicking the shortcut and NOT auorun. Now it should play fine.
Ignore the error message when you close it as well, it doesn't do anything.

Probably. Does it always start as if it has a disk?

Another approach, what problems are you encountering?

i use the icon so start it, and it begins to opens up, and you can hear fine but everything is black.

Well I have no idea, disk version is better by far.

Not impossible, I bought mine from the internet and it came with the box too. Only costs about £6.

Tried playing with Windows 7's compatibility mode for older OSes? (You need Windows 7 professional or above - This won't work on Home, annoyingly) AO works totally fine for me running under Windows 98 compatibility mode. AE appears to work fine without me needing to do that.

Right click on the abewin.exe or whatever your AO install is named as, select "Properties". In the box that appears, click the "Compatibility" tab. Check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select "Windows 98 / Windows ME" from the dropdown menu, then press OK.

darkhoodnes, that was my first thought too. i tried that but an error occured. amazongamecenter stopped working, and stopped my game. otherwise i think it would of worked.

Same here. I have Home Premium and I didn't have to do anything different. That install guide I gave was for Vista with the CD. Fortunately Exoddus just works without any problems at all.

Are you sure that you have to run the game through the Amazon Game Centre? If you could run it directly from Windows, you'd have more control over the compatilbility settings. If not, you'll have to tweak the settings within the Centre software.
