Some MOAR artwork

Seeing as though I'm back I might as well start posting art again...right?
idk :P

Ok, so firstly here's my old art thread: http://www.oddworldforums.net/showthread.php?t=16835 ...I like to think I've improved a considerable amount since the terrible stuff I posted on that thing XD But anyway~

Art Tiem!

Slig done with colouring pencils:
http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...0&d=1216414112

A weird mutant Intern thing that was originally concept art for a horror fanfic I've had in my head for years. There's a Mudokon and a Paramite somewhere in my old art thread too if anyone cares:
http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...2&d=1236104003
Yes I know I already posted these two before, but I like them enough to show them again, even if they are years old 8D

New(er) stuff!

"Stars" - Part of a scrapped Oddworld tarot project that I was working on with a friend back in 2009:
http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1305493262

"Justice" - Part of the same project. It looks pretty terrible but hey, it was ages ago :P
http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1305493262
lol at the reversed signature.

These were all shown in the March edition of OWI's fan art gallery, and apart from the Slig, they were all done using Photoshop CS3 and an Intuos3 Tablet...That "Stars" piece actually got rejected by the mods over at Elfwood because they thought the background was a photo I'd ripped from somewhere, and I had to explain to them that it was just a digital painting >.> It's not even as if my art's that good lmao
/rambling

Anyway, yeah, that's it for now c: I'll post some newer stuff a little later if anyone's interested.

Crashpunk 05-15-2011 01:22 PM

Very nice work.

I seem to recall the Slig drawing.

Gwan-Thwei 05-15-2011 04:11 PM

Ahh, I love the way you draw. I can't wait to see more!

Yeah I thought some people might recognise it from before.

Thanks so much xD

I'll probably upload some more in a day or two...I've got loads of rough sketches and concepts that I've done lately, but none that I've actually finished, so there's not much to upload lol

MeechMunchie 05-16-2011 07:12 AM

Slig

is

awesome.

I love your style, it's the exact kind of thing I'm trying to get into. Got any tips for a budding artist?

Dynamithix 05-16-2011 08:47 AM

The Slig and Intern are amazing!

I fail at giving advice lol. Umm, any specific thing you want to know? XD

Thanks c:

This isn't really worth posting because it's just a bunch of crappy concepts and sketches, so I'll just link to it instead:

I'll be very surprised if anyone remembers my Flying Scrab species...I made them a couple of years ago, but since I knew next to nothing about anatomy and evolutionary biology back then they were pretty awful in design...so I redesigned them 8D
The description and some of the comments at the bottom goes into more detail about them if you can tolerate the wall-o-text. Also, Vechk's Experiment is just a character from a fanfic of mine, basically she was a Flying Scrab that got cybernetically altered by some twit of a Vykker who ended up dooming himself :P

scipionyx 05-18-2011 07:36 AM

yeah you're baaack :D:D:D:D

now when i look at your old art thread and your newer art (also the one from dA) it's even more visible how much you improved!

awesome!!!:cheer:

Edit: the mutant intern is my fav 8D

Jeepers 05-19-2011 10:38 AM

Great drawings I liked them all.

Oddey 05-20-2011 12:23 AM

Ah, good to see you again Glacier. Been a while.

Your artistry has not diminished.

Haha yeah, it's weird to see how much my art's improved. It's still not great, but at least it's better than the awful stuff from before 8D
Thanks!

Christmas gift for scipionyx from 2009 :D It's her character Katu.
It needs more contrast, especially around the white areas, but other than that it wasn't too bad when I drew it.

Gwan-Thwei 06-05-2011 04:16 PM

Lovely! The shadows and shine in the eyes are so realistic.

scipionyx 06-06-2011 07:30 AM

you drew Katu better than I ever did :D it makes me want to draw her again :p
The drawing is so beautiful thanks so much again x3

oh and.. really you should make a new 'The Madness of Life' thread...
I'm sure the people here would love to read on the story :catslug:

Hulaabeo 06-11-2011 05:58 PM

the larger scale Intern creeps me out. Is it like a mutant/native?

moxco 06-11-2011 06:02 PM

I think that intern is going to show up in my nightmares...

MarsMudoken 06-11-2011 11:14 PM

Pff. I've seen scarier. As a tip, try showing little glimpses of the pupils on that intern. That could be pretty unsettling.

Thanks, haha. You should definitely draw her again at some point 8D
You're welcome X3

I'll make a new thread for Madness soon...but not right now, I want to get some more chapters written and a solid direction for the story worked out, so I know it won't become abandoned again XD

It's a mutant ;) There's a Mudokon and Paramite too that I've drawn like it, they're all concepts for a fan fiction that will probably never get written.

Haha XD

Oh, the Intern has no eyes. The eyelids have fused together and the eye itself is being broken down and reabsorbed into the body, although it hasn't been drawn very well.

Slig Shrink :P This thing appears briefly in the second chapter of my fan fiction Shrown. The story had it's own thread here a year or two back, but it was very poorly written and only went up to the end of Part 2. The edited and completed version can be read here.
*shameless self advertising*

No replies? Ok, I admit it wasn't my best :P
Hopefully this will get some better responses~

This was actually a gift for a friend on deviantart, he used to have an account on the forums but I can't remember what his username was...it may have been Tidus or something, I really can't remember.
Detail shot of Abe and Elum, shown at 100% full size:
http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/1355/abecloseup.jpg
And a larger version can be seen here if anyone wants to see the whole image at 50% full-size (I haven't uploaded the full 100% anywhere because it's so damn huge, as well as art theft paranoia XD).

Again, this was shown in OWI's March edition of the fan art gallery, so some of you may have seen it before. I'm also working on a sorta companion piece of Paramonia as another gift, though it's little more than a sketch at the moment.

Oddey 07-07-2011 11:19 AM

The stone looks a little too sediment like (Or at least, I think the word is sediment), which does not seem quite right for Scrabania, but it looks awesome all the same.

It also seems a little too smooth, but still, the rest is quite awesome. I cannot wait to see Paramonia.

STM 07-07-2011 01:38 PM

I like it, and sorry for not commenting on your slig screen, I do like it but I don't come here (FC) much any more. Very nice art, especially that last Scrabanian one.

scipionyx 07-07-2011 10:33 PM

...i too should check OWF more often again Dx

I like your Scarabinia landscape a lot  and it makes sense that the rocks are smooth, in old windy parts of deserts rocks look smooth because the wind carries a lot of sand , that sand smoothens the rocks with the time :p

as for the Slig Shrink, it's an older drawing but still it's nice!
it's always cool to see a character from a story appear in a drawing ^__^

... you should have made that self advertising bigger :p :D

btw: it were cool if you would put a link to the madness of life on twitter once you upload it on here... I don't want to miss the beginning >.< and i always forget to check OWF Dx

Yeah, I wanted to give it a more sedimentary sandstone kinda feel, as you see with many arid deserts like the ones you might expect to find in North America :3 The rocks in such areas are often smooth, as they've been eroded by rough particles carried by the wind over thousands of years.
Although, looking back at it now and comparing it with my current level of skill, there are many things that need to be improved...the rocks are pretty terrible when it comes to how they've been rendered, and there's that big flat empty space in the centre XD I may redo it sometime, and actually stick to how Scrabania appears in the game~

Hey no worries, and thanks! I admit I haven't logged into this place for weeks, I've been kinda neglecting the internet all together lately X3

Lol we all have the same problem X3

Thanks C: And yeah that's what I thought lol

I just wish I drew the Shrink larger, it's so tiny D: I should really draw more stuff from my fanfics but I'm too lazy half the time XD

Ok, this is from a few months back, but it's my most recent Oddworld piece~
http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1316104483
Vechk's Experiment :D
She's been redesigned since the pictures of her in my old art thread, so now her species is actually able to function biologically. I'm still working on her reference sheet...a work in progress can be seen on my tumblr sketch blog, A.K.A here (click the image for a larger view).
Once I finish her ref I want to get a proper sheet done for the entire species with in-depth detail on their biology, including skeletal structures and flight adaptations. There's also some other species of mine I'd like to map out in a similar fashion (i.e. the Skargs and the Creetles), and if I'm really bored I'll do a small speculative phylogenetic tree for the entire Scrab order to show how my Flying Scrabs and Skargs are related to the traditional species seen in the games.
Ramble derp~

I already know there's loads of things with this picture that don't look right, blah blah blah I'm my biggest critique and rarely happy with anything I do pffft.
Either way, a larger version can be seen on my deviantart page c:

scipionyx 10-11-2011 12:47 PM

cool!! 8D

it's cool how you improved Vechk's Experiment and it's whole species more and more till this very day :fuzcool:

i love the blue outlines too btw.. they look awesome  this would make an amazing book cover... if your story was printed in a book :D
