Fanart Competition 2011: The Results!
Take a chill-pill CrissCross; they're here!
Ladies and Gentlemen, at a record-breaking speed, the results are in! Ballots have been checked! Boxes have been ticked! Beans have been counted! And I am very disappointed that no one drew an industrial picture, but never mind! Thanks to the three entrants, CrissCross MeechMunchie Scrabtrapman And an equally massive thanks to the three self-sacrificing and generally wonderful judges, Dripik Enchilado And the mysterious third judge who Did Not Wish To Be Named (but not the same as the judge of the fanfiction competition who Did Not Wish To Be Named). To save time, we'll call this judge... Blofeld. As I say, the results are in, so I will no longer waste your time. Each submission was marked out of 150 points, so in reverse order... In third place, with 72 points was... I Am Oddworld, by Scrabtrapman! In second place, with 78 points was... Artwork9 by CrissCross! So our winner, with a fairly hefty 110 points, was... Moonlight, by MeechMunchie! (Which is also the only one too large to attach to this thread, so is liable to have vanished by this time next year, but never mind!) Well done MeechMunchie, you master-artiste, you (it's extra-artistic with that 'e' on the end). To follow is a breakdown of the scores, and any comments the judges felt the desire to leave you. (Note the order of points: total (Dripik/Enchilado/Blofeld)) I Am Oddworld, by Scrabtrapman! Quality of Art: 10 (3/6/1) Depiction: 18 (2/9/7) Oddness: 10 (4/2/4) Originality: 22 (3/9/10) Use of Theme: 12 (3/5/4) Total: 72 (15/31/26) :

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- And that, my friends, is that! Thanks again to the entrants and the judges, and generally to people who nagged and encouraged wherever necessary. Your co-operation is appreciated! That is more or less that. The 2011 fanfiction competition will happen some time around August. Stay Odd, everyone! |
Congratulations to you three who entered! I'm curious to know.. if I could have been arsed to give it a go, I was planning on using the other meaning of moonlight, which is 'to moonlight' (to have a night-time job, or something like that)... I was gonna do Abe earning some cash dancing in drag for the glukkons in a burlesque house. Would this have been a valid entry? x)
|
Yes, though it would have been up to the individual judges to decide what marks to give you for 'use-of-theme' (and whether or not they understood your meaning). I like the clever uses of theme, though last year one of the entrants used a complex use of the theme and scored low because of it, so he wasn't too chuffed.
|
Ah, mine was like the two by CrissCross and MeechMunchie, only not in a cave. Congrats guys!
|
Hmm, shitty camera = no points, hah. Well done guys! See y'all next year and then...I'll be arsed! DUN DUN DUN! ;)

Thanks! I iz winner!
Basically, my idea was that we don't know that much about Paramites. They could have their own culture, their own legends, their own heroes. So I drew a big muscly Paramite with the Paramite symbol tattooed on its back, leading the swarm on some mysterious migration. He revels in the moment. After all, this may be the only time they ever see the sky. Shame we didn't get a couple more entries though. Now to do a Scrab (Sunlight) and a Meech (Twilight) one! |
I was planning on using a meech actually. It was a meech in a dead forest at night, skreeching at the moon.
I think next time we have a competition, we should do like, a duel between two creatures or something. That would be fun. |

See your optician. The tattoos are as clear as I can make them. I even highlighted them in blue to make sure nobody missed them.
The Paramite swarm at the back isn't as obvious as I would've liked, but there's not much I can do about that. It was either make it clear or make it dark, and the second one was more important. |
Hmm, looking at it again I can see the shapes of paramites in the background. But I can't see the paramite's back 'cus of how he's standing. :fuzconf:
Nice idea, though. :

Oh yeah. i assumed they were dark shadows before, but I see what you mean now. That's cool; if you did do one for scrabs it would be interesting to see.

Personally, I liked "I Am Oddworld" for its originality. The other 2 winners were well-drawn. Cheers!
