Munch's Oddysee Xbox 360 Update

Microsoft has released a new patch for Munch's Oddysee to fix the sound errors when the game is played on a 360. So what is your opinion on this patch? I don't own an original Xbox anymore and the only 3 Xbox games I have left are Munch's Oddysee Stranger's Wrath and Halo 2 so it's nice to finally have a patch for Munch now but in my opinion it has come out far too late. All we need now is to be ABLE TO PLAY Stranger's Wrath on the 360 and I will be very happy :)

An anouncement has been made on the Facebook page aswell

Thats nice I've been wanting to play that again with sound for like 7 years..

JennyGenesis 04-18-2011 07:33 AM

Just put my MO disc in my 360. No patch installed so I thought I would give it a quick play anyway to see if anythng was fixed but still the sound errors are present. Has anybody managed to install the new patch yet?

Yep, I just put the game in my 360 and I haven't got the update either. Interestingly, though, I get disconnected from the Internet when the game runs (without getting a notification - I had to quit to the dashboard to find out). Does the same happen to anyone else?

Are you using a component cable or HDMI? because I heard the emulator is a bit buggy for the original xbox games.

and unfortunatly original xbox games arn't supported on Xbox LIVE which is so annoying when trying to talk online while playing an old game.

I'm using a HDMI cable, but why would that affect my Internet connection?

It is working in the UK right now.
No word on other countries.

For folks in the UK not getting the update, I reckon it could be that the update is still being distributed across Microsoft's servers - it's a problem that's cropped up with Steam before, there's no reason that the same couldn't happen with Xbox Live.

Any luck yet guys? I don't wanna keep going back and forth putting my MO disc in my 360 every 2 seconds.

UPDATE:Patch is out now, works fine however once you complete a level the sound errors return :(

How come Munch can be played but Stranger can't ?

JennyGenesis 04-18-2011 01:28 PM

I don't know but I'm thinking maybe there is a slight a chance a patch may be released for Stranger.

elums mum 04-18-2011 01:44 PM

Be good if they did, my copy of Stranger has just been rotting on the shelves downstairs for God knows how long :-/. At the same time it would be a bit late and pointless what with Stranger HD being released pretty soon (fingers crossed) plus I thought no more games were being added to backwards compatability thingy majig??

JennyGenesis 04-18-2011 01:46 PM

Well OWI and JAW did manage to get past Microsoft's 2GB limit ;)

Not really. The game isn't available in the XBLA - you still need the disk. It's just that it will now work where previously it didn't.

Don't get your hopes up. It would be a small thing to patch a game that already works but with a minor bug. Allowing emulation for a completely different game would take much more effort.

Because Microsoft included Munch in their Xbox emulation program, but not Stranger.

I meant bypassing the 2GB limit in reguards to I believe Stranger HD. I was trying to state that if they managed to get past that maybe they persuaded Microsoft to release a new patch for Munch.

Oh, I see. Possibly. Not so much that one follows from another, but that an improved business relationship produced both.

Or maybe they were able to point to the sales of Munch on Steam and suggest that it was a good idea.

Hazel-Rah 04-21-2011 06:54 AM

Awesome! I've been waiting for an excuse to play it again. Haven't tried it yet btw.

JennyGenesis 04-21-2011 04:43 PM

Anybody managed to download the patch yet? I still haven't got it. I even went and erased the hard drive cache but it still won't install any update when I put the MO disc in.

Manco 04-22-2011 12:13 AM

Looks like there might be a problem with the update going out. From the comments section of the Oddworld.com news post:

Can anyone shout out if you’ve downloaded the update and found it to have solved the audio bugs, i.e. voices and sound effects are now at a respectably audible volume throughout gameplay?
