New Nintendo console?
So there's going to be a new Nintendo system at E3 this year and Nintendo says they're determined to appeal to the hardcore gamer this time. I'll totally go with Nintendo in the next gen if it's a worthwhile system, opinions?
|
The Wii was the only system of the last gen that I didn't sell off, so hopefully this will be interesting. On the other hand, I am really in no mood to buy another system already, and the 3DS hardware issues kinda burned me. Hope their next Mario game is better than Galaxy.

People still play Mario games?
|
do they mean like ds or a console?

Being a consistently good franchise over the last thirty years helped. |
Super Mario Galaxy 2 was amazing.
Oh, wait. I forgot. Only games that involve guns and shooting people are good. Right. Anyways, I'm looking forward to this. I kind of hope they ditch the motion control gimmick this time, though. |

This i'm looking forward too. The Wii is been needing an update but a new console might work :D
|
The rumors are pretty crazy on this one. 6" HD screen in the controller, vastly more powerful than the PS3/360, seemingly ditching the Wii's controls, and probably some other stuff that I am forgetting. It almost sounds like between this and the NGP,no one seems to be learning anything from this gen. Cutting edge, expensive tech does not necessarily create great sales. Not to mention between the casual and hardcore audiences, casual is much more lucrative, though probably much more fleeting. All that shit this thing is supposed to have doesn't sound cheap at all, just the opposite of the Wii. At first I dismissed this outright thinking no way Nintendo could be this dumb, but so many sites are reporting it some of it must be true.

Still I've been meaning to play Galaxy, hell maybe I'll even buy a Wii when the price drops next month... |
I must be the only person in the world who thinks Mario 64 is the weakest of the 3D main series games.
|
its $385 for a wii right now so im thinking of getting one

It's going to be $150 next month in America so I'll probably get a used one for under $100, my friend has a Wii but I kind of collect Sega games and there are some interesting Sega exclusives and Sega/Nintendo crossovers I'd like to own.
Yeah Wings I agree Super Mario 64 is overrated, once I finished it I never touched it again whereas with Super Mario World I never get bored. Early 3D games just don't hold up as well as 2D games and in the case of Mario 64 are remembered as being more "revolutionary" than anything else, so thanks Super Mario 64 for advancing technology...in the wrong direction!!! |
Well I absolutely loved Sunshine and Galaxy. I still think 64 is great but just doesn't hold up to those two.
|
Anyone here played Nights: Journey into Dreams or Sonic Colors?
|
Derailing your own thread, Hazel?
|
*Groans* fine....we'll go back to talking about the new Nintendo system.
No more gimmicky motion control bullshit, gaming needs to go back to its roots! |
I would hope that Nintendo isn't stupid enough to abandon the crowd who made Wii king of this generation in favor of a jaded crowd who consider Nintendo to be kiddy.

All jokes aside, the people who bought the Wii over the other consoles will also buy the Wii2 (or whatever it's going to be called) even if it is an HD, super-powered behemoth, as long as Nintendo pushes out Nintendo games. |
:
No thanks, I'm fine with gaming staying in its current form. |

In summary: Fuck the hardware. Software is the key to success. |
No, those people definitely bought it for the hardware. If the Wii had a normal control scheme and the same games as it does now, it wouldn't have been nearly as successful.
