I like it, its very simplistic but it has its own quaint style. I usually don't like fan corner art unless its something exceptional but these are generally good.

CrissCross 04-02-2011 03:31 AM

thank's
iv'e been thinking of getting a bit more detailed and also i've got a waycom tablet at home but i never use it so i might do some art on there

so thank's :D

Dynamithix 04-02-2011 04:35 AM

Pretty cool. I like 'em!

CrissCross 04-02-2011 01:09 PM

thank's :)

scrabface 04-02-2011 01:17 PM

is this your design or a fan art? I like the polygonal strokes.

CrissCross 04-02-2011 02:35 PM

What do you mean by a fan art?

and yeah i do use a lot of polygon stroke's i like it because it make's it look more like a sketch than a drawing

Tavostor 04-02-2011 02:44 PM

The first picture is great! The other two are mediocre.

CrissCross 04-02-2011 02:48 PM

I might be doing some more today so i might post some later

Take it as a compliment, the design is simple & great!

CrissCross 04-02-2011 03:38 PM

oh thank's then :)

CrissCross 04-02-2011 11:33 PM

sorry for the double post

although i've been experimenting with this shading technique and i would like to know your opinion
so here it is

http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/i/20...sx-d3d3cbc.jpg

so what do you think???

STM 04-03-2011 01:10 AM

I couldn't comment, mostly because I don't like shading with a pencil since it doesn't show on a scanner, ergo, I don't think the scanner has probably done your piece justice but from what I can tell its good. However, your shading doesn't really take into account one single light source, for example, if it was coming from NNE, the bit under the beak would be a lot darker than the rest of the face for obvious reason.

Anyway keep at it, you seem to have some promise,

enchilado 04-03-2011 01:31 AM

Don't end your sentences with a fucking comma,

Dynamithix 04-03-2011 01:34 AM

It's okay, but I always use the finger technique for the shading parts, then the shading looks smoother.

(Oh wow, that sounds so bad. I finger shadows? Heh.)

CrissCross 04-03-2011 01:41 AM

thanks for the feedback i drew another one if you want to see it
it's a bit wrong in my opinion so i might stop doing this style of shading
but here it is

http://th03.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/...sx-d3d3irp.jpg

enchilado 04-03-2011 01:51 AM

Wow, nice.

CrissCross 04-03-2011 01:57 AM

thank's i was thinking of doing a heart but i kept stuffing it up

STM 04-03-2011 02:21 AM

That is much better! You have taken into account a light source and I love the outlining on the actual rose! Well done.

Dynamithix 04-03-2011 02:58 AM

That's a nice rose.

I wouldn't use too much of such blending techniques, before you have shading and hatching fully under control. otherwise you'll miss to learn the right feeling of how strong or soft you have to push the pencil and it's kinda cheating too.
alright, I can't shade myself, but I try to stick to this idea.

Heh, I know I know. My arts teacher says it's cheating too.

CrissCross 04-04-2011 01:18 PM

Yeah i dont want to make this like an all the time thing or i might lose the basic skills

EDIT: that sounds retarted :D

T-nex 04-05-2011 08:40 AM

Well my honest opinion is that you should probably make lots of simple shapes and then practice shading on them, and always keep a light source in mind.
I don't think you've got shading completely under control, but it's getting there :)

I really do recommend this link http://hippie.nu/~unicorn/tut/xhtml/#basics-lightshadow
The rest of the stuff is pretty neat too(except the furry part... unless you're into that).

Shading is hard though x_x I cant do it either. I suck at drawing but I try lol.

scrabface 04-05-2011 10:53 AM

right and study other artist's work and try to figure out how they've done it.

I hope it's ok if I post them here. if you click the images, you'll get to the artist's blogs.

I think it's odd that everyone jumped on the shading here, because the perspective is the first thing that struck me as bad. I can't put my finger on what it is exactly.

You really need to work on your fundamentals, which is something I see a lot with people who do a lot of the anime stuff. Shading and perspective are key. Once you get a feel for them you can fuck with them until the sun comes up, but not before.

Well the face is at a 1/3 angle, but the rest of the head seems to be in profile. Also, that thing needs some feathers.

This is one of the reasons I don't like most manga. I get the feeling that there are really talented artists who would have developed their own fantastic styles had they not been coerced into drawing manga instead. Let's face it, despite minor variations and occasional exceptions, it does all look pretty much the same.

CrissCross 04-15-2011 03:55 PM

Hey guy's i was doing some sketching and i was bored so i thought i might post them on here

http://th00.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/...sx-d3cxddg.jpg

http://th07.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/...sx-d3cxd8a.jpg

so yeah i put them on my deviant art if you guys want to take a look

http://crisscrossx.deviantart.com/

EDIT: they look really bad when they're that big

Dynamithix 04-16-2011 12:38 AM

Uh, okay.

Dixanadu 04-17-2011 04:25 AM

What.
