Q: Have you ever tried play Abe's Oddysee... as blind?

Title says too much... but have you tried beat AO as blind? :D
Never tested this before but i just got this odd idea when i logged here. :)
Im not sure is it possible?

I think after being killed for the tenth time by the same slig on the second screen you'd either quit out of boredom or frustration.

Mikaeel 02-09-2011 10:21 AM

Do you mean blind as in, with blind folds? Uh, I don't think anybody would able to do that, no matter how familiar they are with the game.

You'd never know when to jump or roll under the saws.

MojoMan220 02-09-2011 10:27 AM

Actually, Oddworld.com is bringing back the "Fan of the Month" feature, and the first profile will be a blind gamer who beat one or both of the games. It was mentioned on OWI's Facebook page a little over a month ago.

Mikaeel 02-09-2011 10:32 AM

So somebody beat Exoddus without looking?

I'd love to see a video of this guy rolling Abe under the 7 saws in that one level without looking. I'd kill for a vid like that.

Bullet Magnet 02-09-2011 10:57 AM

You could have a spotter advising you.

moxco 02-09-2011 02:29 PM

Does it count if your guide dog plays for you?

skittlesaretasty 02-09-2011 02:33 PM

Yes, and you get triple awesome points.

Bullet Magnet 02-09-2011 02:36 PM

If you have a dog that plays videos games you aren't going to take advantage of it with silly forum challenges.

OddChipango 02-09-2011 07:37 PM

Wait, my cat plays TF2, is that normal? And she ain't looking!

Sekto Springs 02-09-2011 07:53 PM

What in god's name is the point of playing video games if you're blind?
It's just like button-mashing with a bag over your head, only you can't take the bag off and laugh with your drunk friends about it later.

Xavier 02-09-2011 10:15 PM

Apparently some blind guy managed to play Abe's Oddysee. He posted about it on the OWI's Facebook page.

Chubfish 02-09-2011 10:24 PM

It depends on what you mean by "blind"; it has a very broad meaning.

Oh, such over-whelming broadness.

What he meant is, that there are other definitions of blind people can commonly use.
Such as not seeing the obvious, and other things.

Someone needs to play Blind Monks' Society.

kapteeni13 02-10-2011 12:59 AM

Erm, as i said my idea was odd. :)

Yes but in that sense blindness is being used metaphorically. For example just because you "flock together" with similar people doesn't make you biologically a bird.

Phylum 02-10-2011 01:47 AM

You're crushing my dreams.

moxco 02-10-2011 01:55 AM

You can still become a bird!

Nope, this idea i though is only for AO & AE or other 2D games. 8)

I remember seeing a short thing on TV about a blind guy that had somehow managed to learn to play video games without his sight.

Different kid, but similar story: http://www.azcentral.com/ent/vgames/...gamer0728.html

No, what he actually meant is that being legally blind doesn't necessarily mean that a person can't see anything at all. There are levels of vision-impairment.

Elmatto753 02-10-2011 08:36 AM

My old music teacher was legally blind. He could see, but struggled to read without some electric magnifying glass thing.

skittlesaretasty 02-11-2011 02:38 PM

Or he meant many ranges of blind as in actual vision and also the term for playing a game for the first time.

metroixer 02-11-2011 06:09 PM

Have you ever tried playing abe's oddysee... as drunk?

Phylum 02-11-2011 06:39 PM

We've had that discussion before, I believe.

Crashpunk 02-12-2011 01:13 AM

Did he use a Bilnd Slog :tard:

michu 02-21-2011 10:16 AM

I am perplexed and amazed. My mind will be boggling for quite some time to come.
