Tunisia & Egypt Uprisings
You know, back in the good old days when something of this magnitude happened in the world someone would make a topic about it in 0.2 seconds. What gives?
Anyway, shit hit the fan in these two countries. Apparently people suddenly woke up one day and decided they were no longer going to live under an evil dictator no more and revolted in HUGE numbers. Tunesia was first, after which it sparked protests in Egypt which in turn is slowly sparking protest in a number of Middle-Eastern countries. On February second 2011, more than a million people gathered in Cairo for a protest against the president. Later that day there was stand off between presidential supporters and protestors which, despite the army's efforts to keep them apart, resulted in massive fighting and chaos. At the time of writing there have been massive (over 1500) injuries and 3 deaths. Someone also thought it would be cool to plow a bus through the anti-president mob, no doubt resulting in further injuries and casualties. These are very interesting developments, since this seems to be sparking a lot of uprisings and protests in a few Islamic countries under the rule of a dictatorship. If this keeps up it could very well redefine the entire Middle East and other Islamic countries. |
I'm no expert on Egyptian politics so I won't stick my nose in there, but I WILL say that it's nice to see that there's still places in the world where people will do shit for what they believe in.
|
Worry not. Where democracy goes, The Daily Mail won't be far behind.
|
Apparently this has happened before to other countries (I was told when and where in the conversation I had about this with a family member but I can't remember now) - And while the governments that were overthrown were bad, the governments that replaced them were a lot worse.
I hope these people are fighting for something better and that history doesn't repeat itself. |
Now let's go live to junior reporter abe619 for an eyewitness account.
|
Start of WW3?
dun dun duun. |
If anything it would be world-civil war 3, which is just stupid.
|
I'm hardline Hachesphut.
or however you spell it. |
Hmm, I think that it's great that the people are fighting for a better life but, the people fought for the People's (inglorious) Republic of China...The People fought for Zimbabwe. You catch my drift?
|
The people also fought in Tunisia.
|
Egypt's last uprising was a bit gay. Full of plagues.
|
Wouldn't it be great if all the mummies and anubis' and sphinx' came to life and forced Egypt back into the good ol' days? No...ok then.
|
Since when was there more than one Anubis?
But yes, that'd be pretty bitchin'. |
Or when Wadjet returns through the magnetic vortex in the Gulf of Mexico to destroy humanity in 2012.
I actually read an article about that which the writer took seriously. |
We need Moses for this one.
|
Guys, Y'know Moses is came back...Jesus too, they were gonna make their way from Jerusalem, saw how fucked up we all were and went back to Heaven!
|
Man, they left in a hurry. Jesus probably got threatened he'd be crucified again.
|
He only left to get some milk, poor guy.
|
My older brother is dressing up as an Egyptian protester to a fancy-dress party. It looks very realistic. :)

Remember what the U stands for. It could be genuine footage (it isn't) and still no one would have any grounds to claim that they are aliens.
|
:
Just like the time I lived in Southern Jerusalem for four months and you could assess what colour the security alert system was by the number of sonic booms in a day. |
:
and what are you trying to say? if these lights are real, you explain them as a terrorist bomb? |
:
Also, this pretty much warmed my heart after seeing some videos of vans plowing protesters. http://imgur.com/NhC4m |
:
I wasn't saying it was a terrorist bomb. I was implying that it was most likely an Israeli airforce jet. |
Landing over the dome of the rock? Well, if that's what they do...
@Dax - In all honesty its obvious to everyone but the Americans apparently that your not as free as you seem to think. Perhaps you enjoy living in America but I wouldn't live there myself. The government doesn't seem very interested in the average joe's welfare. |
:
I was even thinkin of moving there before, but .... nah. only good thing about the place is tax is cheap, but compared to the UK every country has cheap tax lol |
Even in the Netherlands?

STM, you're arguing that the USA is a shithole for the intent of trying to prove that people shouldn't revolt against the establishment. Can't you see how tenuous this is?
Even if every revolution in human history ended badly (And this is history, you can make an argument for them all doing so sooner or later), that in no way proves the alternative was any better. |
