Duke Nukem Forever...ish
Guess what does have a release date. A proper one.
May 3rd. |
I love the self mocking at the end of the trailer. Yay for it finally coming out and actually looking halfway decent in the trailer. I wonder what the gameplay will be like. Looks like a lot of mindless shooting, idiotic story and tacky one-liners. Not to mention all the sexual references. It's... it's... just the way I remember Duke Nukem. Hail to the king, baby!
|
How shitty was the lipsync in that one shot of Duke with the cigar?
Also, was he tickling an alien's sphincter and then climbing inside right at the end? |
I saw it as an organic door-thing. There were similar looking doors in DN:3D, I believe.
I fear that without an 18+ rating this is going to be censored for the Australian market. |

I'm actually surprised how good it looks, sure its not breaking graphical boundaries, but its looks fun as hell. I will probably get it. Also is it just me, or did they just show the ending to the game as the end to that trailer? |
Day one buy.

I've never seen so many ERSB warnings...
This will rule if disapproving mothers start a campaign against it. |

I think they should do a parody ERSB warning in the opening. Like
Contains: Filth Undressing Cursing Killing Yelling Obscenity Undressing (x2) |
THIS GAME IS RATED DUKE.

Duke Nukem Forever is finally out of development hell? Why was I not informed of this earlier?
Anyway it does look sweet and I thought it would never come out. |

Oh well now I feel dumb..I thought it was stuck in limbo all these years. :fuzzle:
|
I think there have been 4 or 5 different versions of the game troughout the years and each time they decided it wasn't good enough so they started over. Apparently we finally have a final version.
|

There's going to be so much riding on this, considering how long it's been developing. If that's the word you'd rather use other than procrastinating. |
I really, really want to know what 3D Realms did with all their time.
Seriously, how can you spend more than 10 years on one game without releasing something? |
:
Just to stick the knife in, it won't even be bad. It will be average. mediocre. It will leave gamers meh. It will just disappear into the total obscurity of a dumb looking FPS that rides on fourteen year old nostalgia. I sort of hope I'm wrong though. |
Typing 'When it's done...' into Google or any other search engine should provide insight.
|
Wasn't the game a sure release back in '98?
I'm still doubtful. I don't think they'll be allowed to change engine again, though. |
It was a sure release pretty much every year between it was announced up to 2001, when they said, "WHEN. IT'S. DONE!"
They pulled the plug in May 2010, announcing it with a video of Duke taunting people saying they'll never get to play it. Then in September, someone bought rights to it and here we are again. |

Terrible, terrible company management, and not being able to keep up with the times while never being satisfied with their work. :P |
Every time someone says 'I remember seeing the first adverts for this, it's going to be great!', I say 'It's not the game they started with, of course...'
I suggest a Duke Nukem thread. |

|
Who's making it? I heard t'was Gearbox.
|
It's the guys who made Borderlands. So, yes. It's Gearbox.
The owner of Gearbox worked on all of the other Duke games before starting Gearbox, so this was kind of a dream of his to buy the franchise. |

How can you be so sure?
|
My guess is that it's been ages since a Duke Nukem game came out, and that it's original fanbase dissolved either out of no faith of DNF coming out, or they got pissed off by it.
That and some gamers in this generation might not even know who Duke Nukem is. Like I said, my guess. I may be wrong. I usually am. |
Seeing as DNF is now a joke among gamers I expect a lot of people will get it just because they now can.
