Obligatory "hi, I'm new here!". Except I'm not really lost for words on this one...

I think I came across this place a good while ago, a few years at least, on my searches for Oddworld mythos. Didn't join then, probably a good thing... I've done some lurking and I know I was way too foolhardy back then. >.> I had a look at Necrum. Whoooo. :fuzemb:

I started out admiring Oddworld from afar, since as a child I was extremely afraid of it and would hide out on the stairs in the hallway whenever someone played it in my house in the living room. I learned the first musical cues of the startup of the game pretty well, though I did stick around long enough sometimes to see the characters too.

The fact that the characters and game haunted me so long was a good thing, because now that I'm older I can appreciate the games, their cinematics, their world, their characters and their messages a lot more.

Now that I've gone on to study games design I can appreciate how they're made too! :D I was actually really pleased to look on here and find talented 3D artists.

I gotta say up-to-date and fully illustrated mythos is a little harder to come by now, what with OWI having updated their website but not put back in their extremely handy official encyclopedia of sorts. It doesn't turn up on Wayback Machine either, sadly. Kinda sucks since I plan on modelling an anatomically-correct Mudokon (complete with lack of genitalia!) for part of my university course. xD I'll find my resources anyhow, the Wikia is a good start. The unofficial encyclopedia is great for information, not so good on images. I seem to remember there used to be an online archive and that's how I found all the Fangus Klot stuff, don't remember what it was called or anything though.

Oh, and I'm an RPer, so I might end up joining W@RF if it's not too dead, the two post a day thing makes it pretty manageable with my schedule and it'd be a nice break from work.

My apologies for the slight rambling. Oddworld and its fan community are like strolling down Memory Lane for me. xD Anyway, hope to stick around and get some good discussion, insight, news and perhaps even assistance with future projects.

You sound like a genuine Oddworld fan. We need one of those.

I don't know why you had problems finding the last Oddworld.com site using the Wayback Machine. It's all there! Alternatively, use our archive: http://oddworldlibrary.net/archives/web/oddworld.com/

I wasn't aware there was a shortage, especially since the Oddboxx was released this Christmas. (Tasty tasty cheap awesome games on Steam!) I guess the newcomers haven't started filtering into the community yet, or they're too busy complaining on digital distribution forums while JAW and OWI fix and pretty up the games s'more...

Oh thank you so much Max! I couldn't get the firsttenyears link working when I tried Wayback for some reason, this will be an infinitely valuable resource yet again. Assuming it doesn't fall out with my browser like it used to. =p

TOGG was the very archive I had browsed previous, the memories come flooding back. Thanks for the links, it should be a great help with my model and I'll likely post my progress once I get started on the model itself.

Thank you! I'll try my best, although I can't promise anything, my mind's pretty flaky when it comes to forums. xD At the very least I'll stick around for a few months while I'm modelling my Mud, as I'll definitely have to show you guys.

So many new members, it's like Christmas... you know, until your presents leave you and don't return because, ironically, they get bored with you. I would express my joy to having another new member floating in this cesspool but chances are you'll leave us or spend most of your days in the weird corner.
