Q & A with Oddworld inhabitants on Facebook.
Oddworld inhabitants have answered 10 questions on facebook:
"Will there ever be a BRAND NEW Oddworld game?" - DEFINITELY "Will there be more games with Abe as the main character" - Abe will make an appearance again. "More PS3 Oddworld titles" - We will be making more games that will be on PS3 "Will the Oddboxx be available in stores" - We are looking in it. "Are the next games going to be more like Abe's Oddysee/Exoddus or Stranger's Wrath?" - Both "Will the "BRAND NEW" Oddworld game contain multiplayer ?" - Quite possibly "Who will be the next character in the main quintology?" - Squeek " Is there any chance, we'll ever see Brutal Ballad of Fangus!?" & "Will we ever witness content not on the continent of Mudos?" - Possibly & Yes |
Squeek's Oddysee confirmed.
|
Squeek's Oddysee confirmed? Buddy, it was confirmed in 1997.
I only count 9. |
As a game being developed RIGHT NOW.
|
He will answer the next question soon.
"Oddworld Inhabitants: Hey guys, the next question I answer will be the 10th, so I'm waiting to see what the 10th question might be ;)" |
He didn't say it's a game being developed right now, he said it's the next Quintology character.
|
The last question:
Do you have any plans to work with Farzad Varahramyan or Steven Olds or any of the original artists from the first, and in my opinion darkest Oddworld games? Those games seriously influenced my childhood, and the environments especially were somewhat magical. The particular thing which grabbed me was the scale, those buildings and temples in the back grounds were immense. Munch for me, didn't really convey that. Oddworld Inhabitants :Those guys are busy with other stuff right now. I believe they are working together actually. We worked with Raymond Swanland on the Oddboxx cover art. What we're doing currently is pouring over HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of piece...s of concept art going all the way back, so whilst we might not be working with them directly, we are working with the styles they created. |
Someone should have asked the greatest urban myth surrounding the series.
Is Molluck the Glukkon still alive? I'm sure it will be a contender for winning the competition |
Everyone will say "*sigh* Yes Mullock is alive, he is in hiding. We've gone over this a million times." Even though there's not really any game been made so far to show that.

K100, Thanks for posting these. I think this is good enough proof that Oddworld is coming Back!
|
I'm so glad someone asked about the old art team, that's one of the things I'm most apprehensive about for new Oddworld games.
Oddworld's always (in my opinion) had an extremely high standard of art direction; I hope the new team can live up to that. |
Lorne Lanning and Sherry McKenna worked with CG stuff for years before founding OWI. The graphics of their games were a sure thing.
|
Graphics and art direction are two different things, just sayin'.
|
It seems I missed the word direction when reading your post.
A similar point would still stand if I was bothered to write it. |
I get what you're trying to say, and I agree that as long as Lorne and Sherry are involved the art direction will probably fine.
But my point was that most of the concept art and creature designs for the old Oddworld games came from Swanland, Oldman and Varahramyan. Lorne and Sherry's role back then was probably just to pick out the ones they liked best, not oversee the actual creation. |
I find it sweet how excited everyone is getting over these answers.
|
I'm very glad to hear that we'll see more Oddysee/Exoddus like gameplay in the future releases. Also, Squeek's confirmed now? Cool.
I have mixed feelings about the consideration of adding multiplayer to future OW -games. If multiplayer is necessary/they really want to do it, if anything, they should make co-op. |
Squeek is confirmed to precisely the same degree Squeek was confirmed 13 years ago.
|
All of those answers would be exciting as hell to me if I believed them. But I don't.

Wasn't the Oddboxx going to be released on a whole bunch of different digital distribution platforms? What happened to that, anyway?
|
I think they are waiting to have a stable version first, I'm not sure all the other platforms are as easy to handle to manage patches.
|
Then surely they need to beta test it on all platforms...better at least better than they did for STEAM. I don't know, maybe I'm being to simplistic.
|
Abe's return is the biggest bit for me. I'll enjoy the melancholy, I think :D
