AO -ddcheat didn't work
 

Hello everybody,

I wanted to try one of the new fan-edit-levels for AO and they worked fine but one passage is so difficult that I wanted to use the -ddcheat for Abe's Oddysee. Since a few years ago it worked really fine for me but now it won't.

I have made a shortcut of the AbeWin.exe and put the extra line " -it_is_me_your_father" in the target space. So I have tried it 10 times with holding Shift the whole time but it didn't work. Have somebody a clue whats the problem?

You need to hold shift down, THEN open the game via the shortcut that has the "-it_is_me_your_father" command line param in it.

Is the "-it_is_me_your_father" inside or outside the target's quotation marks.

"Adress" -it_is_me_your_father

Or

"Adress -it_is_me_your_father"

I believe the first is correct.

I had trouble with that now that I use steam for oddworld. There is an option in steam when you right click your game and choose properties, under general u can "Set Launch Options." Type in -it_is_me_your_father with no space for oddysee and -ddcheat for exoddus, also no quotations

ddchheat will never work for me on abe, because my laptops fucked, ages ago i was opening something with winrar, but the box was already ticked that says, open all files with this program, without me ticking it! so now, everything opens with winrar, ive managed to salvage a few programs from the program files folder, but every time i make a shortcut for abe it opens with winrar, so sadly i can never use ddcheat:fuzsad:, unless of course someone ha a solution, will just copying it work, or does it have to be a shortcut?

use the editor,make a shortcut add ddcheat run with editor

what editor?

Can't you just uninstal winRAR, and instal something other? (7zip, or something)

Paul's or LIJI's level editor perhaps? Which the OP was talking about.



This would work, if you still want WinRAR/WinZip/WinWhatever, all you'd need to do (As far as I know) is uninstall it, then install it again.

Why make a trainer though? Do what I did, make an executable patch. Its much easier and faster for the game and computer :D I might upload my patcher if i can be bothered :P
