Spud the Mud (Random unfinished fan-ficiton.)
 

This is a fan-fiction I started writing awhile back. It's not my best work, and it's nowhere near complete. The story isn't flushed out at all and there is no character development whatsoever. I shouldn't be posting it in this state, but I don't know when, if ever, I will finish or continue it.
If by some miracle someone wants me to press on with it, I shall do so—maybe. However, for the meantime, here it is:


Life in the fields was never work that ever seemed glamorous to Spud, but it was a life he secretly cherished when he wasn’t climbing fifty feet-high trees to collect Spuzberries for his tribe. It was one of the only source of food they ate, grape-sized pieces of fruit dashed in a tone of dull burgundy, and it was Spud’s job, day-in, day-out, to scour the forest and keep their stocks up-to-date, along with another handful of mudokons. The berries excreted a scent of mint and rubbed off a dusty red substance that covered Spud’s hands in a red glaze by the end of each working day; he was commonly referred to as Red Hand by his friends.
They were the Spuzwood Forest tribe. Sentient; peaceful; a lavish bunch of muds. Their skins were a deep shade of turquoise and their ponytails were longer than the average mud by five inches. Living off the land, if there was ever a polar-opposite faction to the Magog Cartel, the Spuzwood Forest tribe was it.
Never in their life had these muds seen a slog, slig, glukkon, and never even mind a khanzumer—but dare I say, have you ever seen one either? Rumours floated around of the factories that were devouring the land and the creatures that were growing extinct, though the Spuzwood Forest tribe hadn’t seen any evidence of the devouring metallic structures, or their inhabitants. That was until a day not too long ago when the forest in the southern reaches of Mudos fell under attack, and for the first time in history, the native mudokons there gazed upon the evil tyrants who declared themselves their makers.
History was made and Spuzwood fell in fire and flames. Smoke rose from the burning woods. It smelt like mint.

‘Run!’

How did the evil tyrants know Spuzwood was inhabited by mudokons? How did the mudokons manage to sleep through all the noise and destruction?

Like I said, it's not finished. Far from it. That's about 1/8 of what the first chapter was going to consist of, at least.

To answer your questions: I don't know, this was written over a year ago. If I decided to continue writing it, I'd think of a reason as a write, not beforehand.
Originally I planned to write a detailed account of what happened to Spuzwood Forrest, but fan-fiction is a hard topic for me to get into and write efficiently, as evident from me giving up after only a few hundred words.

i know what you mean, i started 2 fanfics on these forums and havent finished both of them, however, alexfili, lord stanley and a number of other people have written fantastic fanfics, one of my favourites is tulia's pack, but thats because i love slig fanfics.

Well I'll definitely have to check it out!

See I'm more of a writer who focuses on my own stories, I like the idea of writing a fan-fiction; however, I'd much rather be developing my work as opposed to living off another persons.

yeah, you find that when you read other fanfics they inspire you.

When someone writes fanfics. I recommend they make them for the universe and try to use Original Characters rather than using existing ones. Also, try and write what makes you feel happy and what stories you like. Generally, the best way is to experiment and see what happens.
