Favourite movie scenes

this thread will contain movie spoilers.

so, what's your favourite movie scene? they can be funny, sad, powerful, whatever. post them here.

Savior

a film set during the fighting in Bosnia.

The Messenger: The Story Of Joan Of Arc

a couple of scenes with Joan and her conscience.

Rise Of The Footsoldier

a true story about the life of Carlton Leach, a football hooligan who climbed the criminal ladder. i like this film because it doesn't glorify the people in it. they were fucking stupid and half the time were out of control.

embedding disabled.

Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels

a classic film.

I'm not a massive movie buff, but there are many memorable movie scenes to me. The first one that always comes to mind for me is the ending of FIght Club:

Breathtaking

Wings of Fire 12-19-2010 01:20 PM

The intro to Watchmen

That's all I can think of that are on youtube and in decent quality. I can't find the loudspeaker scene from Shawshank in sync.

The Mexican stand-off in the diner in the end of Pulp Fiction. The whole sequence with Verinita Green in the beginning of Kill Bill and later, in Vol. II, as the bride struggles to dig herself out of the coffin are both incredible as well. Not many non-Tarantino scenes come to mind, I'm afraid. No, I'm not bothering to post them.

Speaking of Mexican Standoffs, the absolute best example of one is one of my favourite scenes from any movie ever: the three-way standoff in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

It's basically five minutes of people looking shiftily at each other, but the music combined with the camerawork gives it this amazing feeling of tension.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find it on Youtube, but here's the music I was talking about.

Dynamithix 12-20-2010 07:57 AM

This scene was very intense when I first saw it, it's amazingly done.

Nothing like Morricone to make a movie as great as it is. His piece "L'Arena" is used in the scene from Kill Bill Vol. II that I mentioned. This music also sounds familiar, which is strange as I've, regrettingly, never seen The Good, the Bad and the Ugly the whole way through. Probably in other Tarantino films.

This is an absolute shame and I am disappointed in you for it.

And as far as I'm aware The Good, the Bad and the Ugly's soundtrack is pretty much one of the most famous ever, so it wouldn't surprise me if people have heard some of it before.

I'm sorry, did I break your concerntration?

Manco 12-20-2010 01:27 PM

You sure as hell broke my tables.

scrabface 12-20-2010 01:46 PM

Have to agree with this one. I really liked this scene.

Strike Witch 12-21-2010 04:29 AM

No way, this is the best scene in the Thing.

scrabface 12-21-2010 10:05 AM

It's a Trap!

I felt so fascinated and disgusted at the same time while watching this awesome movie.

MeechMunchie 12-21-2010 12:42 PM

The Matrix scene with the pills, the mirror, and the unplugging. I think it's called 'Decision'.

The Last March of the Ents/Seige of Orthanc in Lord of the Rings.

And something else I've just forgotten.

Emesdee 12-22-2010 02:07 AM

When Luke just flips out and the music kicks up, it's just wonderful. The scene where he's being electrocuted by the Emperor was great too, but the only clip I found was out of synch.

The Last March of the Ents/Seige of Orthanc in Lord of the Rings

This was probably my absolute most favourite scene of any Lord of The Rings movie, and it's a damn shame that it didn't go on longer. Even on the extended edition.

MeechMunchie 12-26-2010 07:18 AM

Every time I listen to Oh Green World a little montage of Two Towers Ents footage plays out in my head.

Josh 12-29-2010 10:04 AM

The scene with the 'chair' in Tokyo Gore Police.

Ridg3 12-29-2010 11:39 AM

JOSH!

fuck you. you disappear for god knows how long, don't tell anyone where you've gotten to, then suddenly reappear and expect us to be all okey-doke? do you realise how worried we all were? do you realise what you've done? Oddjob's lost all of his hair, MM's become impotent and i've had to stop robbing houses. that's without even mentioning OANST coming out of the closet and how nice the admins have been lately.

you don't even care.

OANST 12-30-2010 08:41 AM

He's a real bastard, that Josh.

Nate 12-30-2010 03:16 PM

At least he's not posting offtopic in a movie scene thread. Now that's bastardry.
