SW Remake Multiplayer?
I haven't read anything about it but I think It would add to the game, not like COD etc. but something different, something Odd. What are your thoughts?
Yes please.
I hope so.
What characters would you play? It's not like you can just do a Halo and make everyone a different-coloured Stranger.
perhaps different Outlaws? that will be cool.
It's a remastering, not a remake...
And I really don't see how this would work. |
Didn't someone post an interview with Lorne about this very subject?
I think, with a fair amount of changes here and there, it could become a pretty awesome multiplayer game. I'm pretty certain it's not happening at all, but it's a pretty fun thought.
As far as characters go, I don't think that'd be a really big problem. The best way to go about it is that everyone would get the same crossbow, and you could choose different skins for your character. That kind of thing wouldn't really matter as much in multiplayer. The gameplay could be interesting. You could use the same Live ammunition and bountying process. - The chippunk could become a radar decoy or something like that. - A bounty could gain the player more points than a kill, however leaves you vulnerable to attack from others for a short amount of time. - A Bolemite could keep someone subdued for a short time while you attacked others, and if you get wrapped up by one yourself, there could be a small push-button minigame so you can determine the speed at which you release yourself (but have minimum and maximum durations). - You'd have to find your own ammo about the map. Ammo would be balanced by how effective it is. I'd say everyone might start with a weapon that damages but doesn't stun, and doesn't fire so fast. Like a slower version of Stingbees (then there might be powerups to upgrade the crossbow to fire faster for a short time, etc). - You would run faster in third person, and your melee attacks would be more devastating (but, obviously, would only work up close). Even from that short list, I could see this being a pretty fun multiplayer game. It probably won't happen, and if it did it'd take a shitload of playtesting for balancing, but it's definitely a fun thought. |
I see that you've put a lot of thought into this thing that isn't going to happen.
It's the holiday season; I have shit all else to do.
Fair enough.
I'm having a deja vu about this thread
"I think It would add to the game, not like COD etc"
I think Call of Duty Black Ops with Sligs instead of people would be awesome. |
Mudokons with M4?
I think an oddworld mulitplayer would be best off written as an MMORPG but even then...no

If this ever happened, even though it probably wouldn't happen, I'd like it if you actually had different characters rather than variants on the same dude. Like play outlaws which would have different strengths/weaknesses related to Stranger, maybe Oktigi or other creatures as well. Possibly any new Munch, etc. releases could take the cooperative play into full fruition like the first Abe games- might have suggested? Does anyone even play those with 2 people? fucking pointless. So alright idea, as long as its not World of Oddcraft; which I really doubt seeing ever Scraptrapman.

I reckon you should be the chicken people and you get to run around pwning eachother.
:
But they are chicken people aren't they?
Yes. Yes, they are. The Hickens were annoying to me because up until that point all of the species looked like they were alien to us. Yes, if we looked at them long enough we could certainly find similarities in other creatures, but it wasn't easy to pick out exactly what or how many different animals were the inspiration.
These things were just talking chickens. |
That they were but I always thought the cluckers were a good part of oddworld, maybe they should do a red dead redemption type free play set in the wild west mudos!

How about Strangers Vs Strangers ala Assassins Creed Brotherhood? One team hides, the other team hunts the bounty! Then they swap!
Steefs vs Wolvarks, set during Sekto's initial occupation of the river valley. Done. Next game.

Too much? |

It says a lot about me that I checked my UCP.
If I was to continue on Meech Munchie's vile tirade I would duly note the lack of difference between oddworld bats and our own Earth varities
:
Personally I started noticing the earth-izing of Oddworld with the Meeps. The Klakkerz and the generally uninspired designs for SW (the outlaws and the Oktogi/Gkoktogi being the least earthlike) just made me notice Farzad's lack of influence even more. |
