That's amazing. I am amazed.

You should stick around.

MagogCartel 11-17-2010 07:08 PM

aw, thanks! Its very unfinished (for 3 yrs now), but I wanna work on more. I had the "Oddworld: The First Ten Years" book with all the art, but it was stolen. =[ That was my most prized possession... I drew Munch a long time ago... I will try to find it then post! Thanks tho!

ledsnipe 11-17-2010 08:55 PM

wow thats a great picture i hope someday i can draw like that:)

MagogCartel 11-18-2010 07:46 AM

I will draw more Oddworld stuff and post it soon. I miss drawing, and these characters are my favorite.

Crashpunk 11-18-2010 08:02 AM

That looks almost like a print. Really well done on the picture so far.

This.

I'm sorry but fucking hell! That sums up nicely what I think about your piece. It's fucking wow.

That is truly amazing.

I just love it when people draw Oddworld characters in such a professional way.

I can remember when I was 4 years old trying to draw pictures of Abe at nursery, a year or so after AO came out. Then I would get the teacher to write 'RuptureFarms' at the top of the page for me. Happy memories. :)

Thank you very much! Now I have more motivation... other people didn't know what it was and thought it was weird..:fuzblink:

Unfortunately, I'm more of a texture/realism art-person... the detail is what makes me take forever. I wish I would've drawn Abe in elementary school! I was/am obsessed with tha game since i was 5. =]

Ok, I will definitely draw more, then post it here!

AvengingGibbons 11-18-2010 02:31 PM

Really great drawing :D it reminds me of my own style of drawing. I'm one of those ones too, who will spend ages getting the detail just right. Good job, and I look forwards to seeing more of your art :) btw, i'm assuming you drew your avatar? It looks nice too!

Lol yeah, thats why i almost failed my AP art class for two years in a row... procrastination! And yep, my avatar is oil pastel on cloth background. it was a fun concept and I love texture/mix media. My art teacher thought a lot of my stuff was odd. and she described my many squid drawings phalic looking, lol. I think im gonna go on an Oddworld drawing binge tonight...

That Abe is amazing!

Me likes it. :]

It's awesome, it looks like the original pic edited in photoshop.

That's perhaps not the luckiest thing to say when you want to praise someone's art. Ambiguous a tad.

The picture is indeed very good. When I first saw it, I wasn't sure whether the proportions of the mouth compared to the whole head were right, but then again, I don't have an accurate image of Abe in my mind, so I can't tell. Either way, impressive work with the details there.

Yeah, the proportions actually are a little off (first one to say anything), I tried for a long time to fix them without having to start over. That's why I hate gridding, it doesn't work for me. thank you though. I was lazy this weekend, but I took pics of some old scrab and Munch sketches I did, along with some of my fave scenery in Scrabania. I will post them soon. Munch is so fun to draw.

ziggy 11-22-2010 09:17 PM

The shading and his skin texture are very good! The eyes look like there is life behind them. A lot of people can't do that. On the criticism side, like what other people said, I think you could work on the way Abe's face is put together proportion wise. The head is a bit squished/stretched looking. But do you have any more? I would like to see.

AvengingGibbons 11-23-2010 12:16 AM

Yeah, when I said I have that same style, i actually meant how I get the detail but don't take too much care on the shape.. I get carried away on the small parts and totally disregard the overall shape. But it's down to laziness really :p I know I could get it right if I used a grid, but I really just can't be assed hehe

I love how you've just gone for it with the pencil and made those really deep strong black tones. It makes so much difference.. it's something I'm still wary about, but when I do try it myself, it pays off more often than not :)

Carnix 11-23-2010 03:03 PM

I had assumed the proportions were drawn like that on purpose. Call me crazy but I think it looks really unique in the best kind of way.

~Blessed be

Neat sketches. Are you still working on these, or are they just that, sketches?

AvengingGibbons 12-30-2010 01:13 AM

i have lots of drawings like that which I kept, but they're all Pokemon xD. I'd love to see how that Scrabania scene would turn out if you were to continue working on it

STM 12-30-2010 05:04 PM

Lurve it, especially the first one, Abe totally posing for playboy!

They are old sketches, but since I now have the First Ten Years book, I plan to do a lot more sketching and final works. Hopefully I'll be able to learn the anatomy so I can creat my own poses and backdrops.

Yeah! My first freehand drawing was a Pokemon sticker with Ash and Pikachu on it! They used to be my favorite thing to draw, and InuYasha. I want to finish a scenery work in color.

Yes! I always loved that pic, that's what my big drawing is based from, that was my pre sketch..... even though they're both unfinished.
