Possible slight problem with Elum...
I made a bit of a mistake with Elum in Paramonia (right before I entered the temple), and I'm wondering if it might affect the game later on or not. Basically, when you leave him before entering the temple, I told him to follow me without thinking. When I walk to the next screen I heard a boom offscreen, a moo, and saw chunks flying everywhere, so I can only assume that he followed me right onto the row of mines in front of him. If he's needed again later on in the game, will he appear, or are character deaths like his permanent if Abe doesn't die with him?

You'll be fine.
You're such a bastard, OANST.
Agreed.
and Elum will come back. and if you need him just restart the path. |
You only get one Elum with the game. You'll have to buy it again. Don't be so careless next time.
Don't worry about it. You get a new one in Scrabania. And you do not need him in the paramonian temple, so just keep going about your business.
That's good to know. ;^^ Thank you for all the advice (and MeechMunchie's... MeechMunchism, I guess? :P)!
I like the sound of MeechMunchism. I'll put it as my religion in the next census.
But you can't complete Paramonia without Elum.
Luckily Paramonia and the Paramonian Temple are 2 different areas.
I completely missed the bit about this being just before entering the temple.

You have to pay me vast quantitties* of money to better ready the MeechMunchists for... Ah, who cares. Just give me your money.
*Deliberate |
I always feared neglecting Elum, and I developed an obsessive feeling of needing to place him in strategic places, telling him to wait. I assume he's ok wherever I left him last, near the next screen of hovering mines.

I think I may have to start doing that when I reach Scrabania. Blowing up Elum made me feel quite bad, and I like him too much to let it happen again! (Although I must admit, the unexpectedness of it, coupled with the strangely-timed "moo", did make me giggle slightly before I fully realised what happened. ;^^)

It's only really funny when Abe gets caught in the blast too and says "GYAACK!" 2 seconds after Elum moos. But anunexpected Elum death usually gets a giggle out of most. I've recorded a few myself. :D
