NEW ODDWORLD DREAM!!

 Hey guys, im in the process of making a new... ODDWORLD DREAM!!!
iv'e finally posted of what iv'e been trying to do for about 5 minutes now.. lol but anyway ill post here for updates and stuff so stay tuned!!!!!!! Oh and you can post your own thoughts here aswell also splat, some old dream files would be nice thanks! THIS IS THE GLUKKON HEAD OFFICE SO FAR!!

Splat 11-10-2010 02:45 AM

Well since the original dream was created by Ajiellyn, Munch's Master and Fuzzle Guy, you'd need to get all their permission to use their work.

The idea that fanart is the property of the person that made it is so absurd that I feel like retching on my own face.

STM 11-10-2010 07:50 AM

If you manage that, post a picture of it!
I think this is an excellent idea, best of luck!

The artwork itself, also meaning the effort put into it, is the property of the person that made it. The characters, locations and other stuff which are used in the fanart belong to the original creators, thus it is important to give credit to them.

Then again, you might be joking and you are on the same train of thought. It's hard to tell, I'm still shocked by your presence in FC.

Also, dream shan't be mixed up with the original OW universe.

Why use goddamn Furcadia?

bigface1 11-10-2010 03:53 PM

I just finished the scrab pakaging sign not to be realeased for a while yet im still finishing up the glukkon areas next will be slig and mudokon. Plus im willing to show anything to anybody. One part I will be stuck on is putting in the characters so the guy that did make the original dream (sorry can't remember name) Will need to give me some files of the characters and I need to know how to import them into the dream. Thanks - Bigface1

Suggest a better customizable MMOSG or your complaint is meaningless.

enchilado 11-10-2010 05:40 PM

This one's actually a MMORPG platform, but you could probably remove levels and stats and such fairly easily if you wanted a MMOSG. In fact it's open-source, so you can really do anything you want: http://manasource.org/ .

bigface1 11-10-2010 07:22 PM

Yeah. I might just try and stick to furcadia.

enchilado 11-10-2010 07:25 PM

But Furcadia is gross.

bigface1 11-10-2010 07:54 PM

Lol. im trying to find out how to make yourself go up and down stairs otherwise besides the characters everything is going very well.

Carnix 11-10-2010 11:24 PM

And so the concept of an Oddworld MMOSG returns. I never did care much for the original one but I understand that my opinion on it was not widely shared. Alas, that dream stole away my chance at modliness..

Well I refuse to be bitter over something so trivial and, BF1, I wish you luck on realising your dream (see what I did thar?).

I would, however, encourage you to refain from re-using anything from Ajiellyn's dream. I can't see why anyone would play your dream if it becomes too similar to the other one..

I was once working on an Oddworld MMORPG using a platform like this. I found out quickly that I wasn't dedicated enough to complete it. Maybe once I'm done with Fable 2, Fable 3, Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 I'll amass a small team to work on it. Maybe I'll bring the ol' Fanwerks back together, see if I can stop them flopping this time.

Anyways; good luck again.

You need to figure out the basic things like this before you try something big like a whole Oddworld dream.

Hulaabeo 11-11-2010 02:58 AM

I kinda hope this place will be worth it. It obviously isn't gonna be finished soon. >.<

MeechMunchie 11-11-2010 03:19 AM

I suggest we rebuild Oddworld in Minecraft.

Scraby 11-11-2010 03:46 AM

im gonna go build rupture farms in minecraft if it works out

AlexFili 11-11-2010 05:53 AM

"Suggest a better customizable MMOSG or your complaint is meaningless."

Mine-flipping-craft. Oh wait, beaten to the punch. Well I agree with MeechMunchie and Scraby.

Minecraft Classic is free, and includes online multiplayer support. I say, full steam ahead! PS I know everything about the Minecraft Singleplayer Survival so PM me for tips and hints.

Scraby 11-11-2010 07:53 AM

bigface1 11-11-2010 11:11 PM

if nobody cares about this ill just stop lets have a vote say I if you want me to carrry on or X if not.

AlexFili 11-11-2010 11:57 PM

I! I think you should carry on. I'd like to see what it looks like.

Phylum 11-12-2010 12:09 AM

I think you should stop until you know how to use the software. That will save you redoing huge sections.

nowtun 11-12-2010 01:07 AM

I think you should carry on with this if its something that you really want to do. It shouldnt really matter if othes want you to or not, its up to you. Ive been disillusioned with my project big time with the loss of my programmer, but I'm carrying on regardless of what happens just because I really want to see it finished and its something I want to do personaly.

Part of learning a program is using it, have a play with it, try different things, its the best way to learn. But start small scale, most people have huge & great ideas that fizzle out due to their work load, which is a shame.

No, it isn't.

STM 11-13-2010 12:46 PM

OANST is right to a degree, you do not even have to specify where you got your sprites from unless there is a copyright in place however, it is common courtesy.
