RIP

Sadly Paul the Octopus passed away on the 26th of October; he was two years old. He will be sorely missed.

RIP Paul!

pointblanc-slig 10-27-2010 11:40 PM

Mudokon_Master 10-28-2010 12:00 AM

I'm sorry I couldn't have got to know Paul better. RIP buddy. Maybe we can share some happy memories by posting some pics on here if you have any.

enchilado 10-28-2010 12:21 AM

Long live Paul.

Fucking Wikipedia already says "was".

OddjobAbe 10-28-2010 01:25 AM

I miss Norman Wisdom more.

He's sucking bolts out of the hulls of angels now...

Sekto Springs 10-28-2010 03:42 AM

The messiah is not truly dead, he has just changed forms.

Nate 10-28-2010 04:41 AM

So you're saying that we should wait three days and see if Paul comes back as something other than calamari?

MeechMunchie 10-28-2010 04:46 AM

That's squid. Pull your socks up, man.

Bullet Magnet 10-28-2010 04:57 AM

They have the lifespan of hamsters, this wasn't unprecedented.

According to his wiki he was cremated.

Wil 10-28-2010 09:51 AM

An octopus has his own wiki?

Mr. Bungle 10-28-2010 10:23 AM

My condolences.

enchilado 10-28-2010 01:24 PM

I'd never even heard of the sucker 'til now.

Bullet Magnet 10-28-2010 01:34 PM

Paul was an octopus who "predicted" the result of seven World Cup Germany matches in a row. He got the eighth wrong, so they had him killed.

OANST 10-28-2010 01:35 PM

I guess that the business of professional animal oracling isn't so popular where I am, as I had never heard of him either.

Ridg3 10-28-2010 01:37 PM

Happy Deathday.

Yeah, I know. I was hoping no-one would notice and/or would forgive it as comedic license.

Apparently there's a whole ridiculous conspiracy theory going on about this.

:

According to Jiang Xiao, director of a forthcoming thriller entitled Who Killed Paul the Octopus?, the creature had really been dead for the last three months.

Ms Jiang said she was ''60 to 70 per cent sure'' Paul had died in July and been secretly replaced by his keepers.

Explaining how such a deception could have been perpetrated, she added: ''[Octopuses] all look the same. It is impossible to tell the difference.''

Ms Jiang declined to explain why she believed Paul had died in July - or to say more about the revelations in the movie.

enchilado 10-28-2010 05:44 PM

That article is filled to the brim with cheap puns...
Anyway, I think that if he kept his final prediction to himself, it was rather shellfish of him. Can't wait to sea the movie though.

Bullet Magnet 10-28-2010 06:27 PM

I really hope no one here actually believes that this octopus can tell the future, recognise and understand national flags, care about football nor desire to tell its keepers anything even if it could do these things.

Nemo 10-28-2010 07:35 PM

Happy birthday!

what are you saying to me

Bullet Magnet 10-28-2010 07:45 PM

That's not directed at anyone, I've just had my confidence in basic human intelligence severely shaken these past few days. Not really here, but the effect carries.

enchilado 10-28-2010 07:49 PM

What does the effect carry?

Bullet Magnet 10-28-2010 08:14 PM

Itself, here.

Oh god, it's happening again.
