Part 4
Part IV is out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyfsdSyWBJ8 Nextly i'm gonna make ISO of PSX Abe's Exoddus Demo + Reward to watcher's: Trainer that makes beta area playable. Instruction's will be made to inside trainer :) |
To access hidden stages in the PC demo, open mi.lvl in a Hex editor, go to address 0x9c52ee and change 0700 0B00 to 0300 0D00. Save and play, and go to the first secret area. Enter the door and you'll reach the end of the boiler, from there the rest of the demo should be playable. :)

:
That is good way too! :) |
This is very interesting, I only have Abe for the PSX but It's good to see this all happening, despite the messed up game screens in the vid.
|
Trainer & Demo AE ISO

|
:
Looks like my archieve haves problems. Im sorry. Im fixing it. :fuzsad: |
Has the PC version got those demo cams in it? I guess not cause I'm sure they've all been converted before?

I made this finally to get even easier to PC AE demo beta area part :hungry:
Posted this here if someone dont use hex editor's or aren't advanced. It's still possible that everyone is played already this area. Only negative point is that this area dont have working screens. I tried Paul's Level editor for CAM's but my computer fully freezed when i opened demo version mi.lvl :( |
I've got a demo disc of Abe's Exoddus somewhere where the title screen/menu features the Abe's Oddysee music and for some reason the entire demo has a golden border running along the top and bottom of the screen. It features a large proportion of Necrum Mines and curiously Abe says "Hello" and "Follow Me" using his old voice. I remember playing the demo and being extremely disappointed that they'd changed the main theme music to something far inferior.
|
Hey Paradigm, where did you get that demo? If you don't mind me asking :)
|
It used to be on the Oddworld website.
|
So it's the official PC version one, or are there others? I've only ever played the Abe's Oddysee PS Demo.
|
oddstuff.exe from
/pub/gt/games/oddworld/exoddus/ ?????? |
No, I don't think it was on the Oddworld site, as it's a Playstation demo disc. I'll have to try and capture some footage and upload it to Youtube at some point. I don't think the disc was widely available at the time and I've never seen another copy of it anywhere.
There's an interesting glitch in the first tunnel of Necrum Mines on the demo though. When you climb back up into the main chamber before heading towards the first laughing gas screen, there's a Slig above you who is walking up and down, hitting a floor scrubber as he goes. This doesn't always work, but sometimes when you try to possess this Slig, Abe's chant rays disappear, but it still possesses the Slig. The rays are present when you first hit R1+R2 but only for a second or two. I can't emphasise how much better the start of Abe's Exoddus is when it uses the music from Oddysee though. Why did they have to go and ruin it for the game's actual release? The Exoddus theme/opening screen music is okay but it doesn't evoke the excitement and atmosphere of Oddworld in quite the same way as the original theme does. As a matter of interest, is there any way of altering the music on the PC version of Abe's Exoddus, because I have the PC version (in addition to a PSX copy) and it would be really neat if it could be changed... |
Could you tell us what it says on the disc? Do you know the ID of the disc? Eg. SLES-XXXXX
