New website-remember that ?

Where is the new oddworld site? im pretty sure we were ment to get it mid-way through June . then it was delayed as 'they' were working so hard on other projects, so it was pushed back "a couple of weeks" but they apparenty had some great people working on it. Well here we are in October and still no new site.

Im aware I sound like a moany old woman - and its only a website, but after seeing that crap "new site coming soon" for 5 or so years it just seems like this delay is kinda getting outta hand....

AvengingGibbons 10-06-2010 03:50 PM

hmm... I bet it's up by this time next week, if not sooner.

Somehow, I don't have much faith in that tweet.

Nate 10-06-2010 06:36 PM

I have absolute faith that they were working on it and that it got delayed. Other than that, I wouldn't count any chickens.

pointblanc-slig 10-06-2010 07:04 PM

What new site?

There's was a point where I checked up on the site everyday looking for updates.

Phylum 10-06-2010 08:54 PM

It's my homepage of Firefox on my PC.

Oh good, nice to know I'm not the only one becoming a bit too obsessive about it...

I have the forum, oddworld site, JAW website and AbeMudokon Twitter all popping up when I open up Explorer :P I really want that next dev diary, Gilray did say probably weekly or bi-weekly and it's been three weeks... and he said he was going home to write it 3 days ago I think? Then again I guess that Xbox 360 one sort of fills in for it :P I actually enjoy waiting for updates, it's so exciting when you see something new pop up :D Just wish it was a little quicker between updates...

AvengingGibbons 10-07-2010 12:07 AM

3 weeks???.. i think it's only been 2weeks since the last dev diary.. coz wasnt it 2 weeks ago that they showed the updated model of stranger?

They began the dev diary by showing the new (6000poly?) model of stranger posed with the XBOX version and the CGI versions.. then the following week, it wasnt noticeable that they'd added another blog post, but if you looked, you'll have seen they showed an updated (20,000poly?) model of stranger than they will be using for PS3 - and it looked so much nicer!

How long has that picture been up there. its filled with disappointed...Untill now!

LOL I remember doing that around 3 years ago, nothing ever came out of it :fuzsad: and now I'm back to doing it again!

I don't think any website will come for another few weeks, because when it comes to oddworld nothing ever does :fuzsad:

erwinraaben55 10-07-2010 09:31 AM

Well, some of us have been waiting long enough for it to change, but what's another few days/weeks/months or years gonna change about that? Not Munch.

My bet is that they lost their web developer when OWI shut down their studios and they forgot to keep track of the passwords. :D

MeechCrunchies 10-08-2010 01:35 PM

They're probably having to reinforce the mainframe of the server so that the legions of oddworld fans don't crash the poor thing :P

Bullet Magnet 10-08-2010 03:46 PM

It's stuck in a floating stable time loop. Updating the website inadvertently causes it to be stuck like this in the first place. Since the time loop is floating, the loop inevitably reaches infinity in duration while infinitely reinforcing the original problem.

Thus we can conclude one of two possibilities:

1: Upon the heat death of the universe, the one constant that shall remain in the featureless void is Oddworld's "coming soon" website.

2: As the servers and website approach infinity in age in the modern day, the servers involved will inevitably decay. Indeed, the half-life of the proton will be reached again and again, as every particle they are composed of decays into the fundamental entropy. The effects of the severs existing in every stage of existance including final entropy at the same time are very interesting. And by interesting I mean somehow producing the effects we are experiencing for longer than time itself.

Come to think of it, given that both of these outcomes, and indeed the intuitive deduction of the initial premise alone all mean we never see an update ever, in its most absolute sense, my "floating stable time loop" hypothesis seems doomed to terminal unpopularity given the very specific demographic of this forum.

I'll just go.

Well naturally we dislike this hypothesis. But then again, technically the Oddworld coming soon site will be the last remaining proof of man's existence. That's a great legacy for Oddworld to have...

Bullet Magnet 10-09-2010 05:02 PM

Not just of man's existance, but of the poor folk who waited.

And by the way, that is an awesome picture. It is now my wallpaper :P I reckon that's how we all feel right now :P

I'm so very anxious, it seems to feel so much longer now that it's definitely on its way...

STM 10-10-2010 05:49 AM

I wonder if Alf from London is alive to see the release?

Unfortunately, it's just an edited work of Sam Spratt's. The original (which can be found on this page here) shows a Playstation 3 updating:

If you're referring to Alfred Gamble, no, he is not.

Gilrod 10-10-2010 11:35 AM

Hey guys,
Just to let you know the new website will go live as soon as we can. There has been an issue with the hosting company, we had to MAIL (NOT EMAIL) them proof of who we were as some crazy person looked the account by entering the wrong password too many times....

D'oh ;-)

elums mum 10-10-2010 12:30 PM

Thanks for clearing that up. I was kinda hoping you'd comment on the thread to let us all know lol.
I think its really good how you keep in touch with all of us fans. I just felt like somebody should say that (I dont wanna sound like a lick arse or anything haha).

RyuuFox 10-10-2010 12:57 PM

this is good news :O
