TF2 Mann-conomy
TF2 has shipped a bucketload of new items, engaged item trading, and many items can now be customised, as well as the possibly-contreversial descision to allow people to buy items for small amounts of money, bypassing crafting and, y'know, earning.
What do you guys (OWF TF2ers) think? |
After finding out that you have to start the game in order to start the update itself (at least, that was the case here), I found the new additions quite neat. I've been waiting for the new items for quite some time, and from what I heard (and suspect), there will be more. Fingers crossed for new Meet The Team videos.

I will stop at nothing to gain a Fancy Fedora, but to be buying items just seems to lose the magic.

I discovered that I had a PC that can run TF2 a few days ago, started playing it yesterday. I earned The Sandman, Flare Gun, Huntsman, Bonk!, Backburner, Kritzkrieg, Sandvich, Ambassador, Ghastly Gibus and Jarate last night, all of which are now vintage.
I have no problem with this system so long as they keep their word that the drop system will still remain in effect. Also, the new comic is probably the best they've done so far. And it's only six pages. |
Now I think about it, since one person could play for months and never get the item they want, and another could find that item in their first hour of play, I've got no objection to the Mann Co. Store. Also, I want to make my fedora black.
I need to start looking at the backpacks of everyone on my friends list and try to mooch some items off them. |

Seriously, though, TF2 is excellente. |
I don't understand, did it suddenly become WoW?

Even though they are keeping the drop system and trading system alive, I can't help but feel just a little bit sold out by Valve. They are about the last company I'd expect this shit from.
I don't think it would really ruin gameplay since every player and their dog pretty much already have all weapons and items. I just don't agree with stuff like this based on principle. Trading system is cool I suppose, except for the part where every server is now being spammed with: WHO WANTS TO TRADE!?!!! |

Not-joking aside, everything is still attainable quite easily through dropping or crafting and moreso through trading. The entire point of the goddamn thing, like they stated quite clearly in the blog post is to make some fucking money. Of course plenty of people already have the items, therein, it's not aimed at them. It's aimed at all of the no-mind 13 year olds who play shittily as Scout and Soldier and miraculously have a Paypal account, or the turd-burgling lazy scum who can't even bother with Achievement Servers. To be perturbed by something that is so completely benign is foolish. |
I love the new update. I've already traded hats for better hats. Also the Polycount weapons rule.
