Age of Farmville
 

As a long-time AoE fan this has came as a bit of a dissapointment to me. It looks like a casual game you would put on your Wii to keep your pre-teen cousin occupied to make baby-sitting easy.

I really hoped that was some sick joke. For some reason it makes me think it's the 'battlefield heroes' of AoE. Probably won't be getting it.

I am very dissapointed. Even the new features sound completely against the whole idea of AoE. The graphical style is what puts me down the most. While the previous games looked realistic enough, this one feels like a cartoon. This doesn't feel like a step forward, more like three steps backward.

The idea seems like it could be delivered nicely, but for the time being this looks like a very degraded version of it. Unless the game goes through a very radical chage, this doesn't seem to be very good.

I might check it out, but I doubt I will like it. For now, I'm going to stick with the older ones.

AoE 2: Age of Kings was the best

I like the first two. This one looks really bad.

The only Empire I'm interesting in is the Galactic one.

Three words...AGE OF CONAN

And there's nothing wrong with that.

It's because we are video game conservatives. We were raised around such games and many of us have fond memories. Then a year or two back Ensemble Studios shut down and it looked like an end tothese classic RTS's. Then news of this come out from their reformed company and we all become a little excited.

Then the trailer is released and instead of seeing realistic graphics (which go good with accurate history) we get this cartoony shit that makes the game look like a joke, like a casual party game.

I've been dreaming of an AoE-style game with a persistent world. Now here it is, and - fuck, it reminds me of Tom and Jerry. Who the hell came up with this shit?

I want to make Age of Pirates. Each person has an island which they can grow a town and whatever on, and you can sail out into the ocean and raid other islands as well as explore mainlands. During a sea battle you actually control what each unit does - sea battles are just as tactical as a normal AoE battle!

Unfortunately I can't code or do 3D art. :P

Like Tropico 2?

The graphics are quite cute actually - just not suited for AoE.

AWWW NAWWW! Aoe up to Aoe2 was so good, historically based, 1/2 decent graphics but no, this looks crappily shit!

Reminds me of "The Settlers" and "Cultures"

The cartoony graphics just ruin it for me.

I was hoping for a new AoE game, but this was not what I expected, I really enjoyed 1, 2 was one of my favorites, and three was pretty cool too, and the home city shipments was a pretty cool idea, but it made it a little too easy. This game would be ok if the graphics were a bit more realistic, or- as ench said- if this was under a different title, because it just doesn't suit AoE at all.
