Halo Reach
So who's excited for it besides me? Not sure if I'm gonna get it day one but the multi-player looks a lot more interesting than the multi-player in Halo 3.
Also they brought back the "Lost the lead" and "Tied the leader" things from Halo 2 that's wonderful. |
Jetpacks.
That's all I need in an FPS. Oh, I miss Duke 3D... |
I've given up on the competitive side of Halo, it's gone way too casual. Give this a view: http://gameroom.mlgpro.com/view/ItLqFlLygPk.html
and then decide for yourselves if they've made Reach even more noob-friendly in these two new vids: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMwQ5wDGypY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGhpRV3tNq0 I'll still buy it just to fool around with friends in Forge and for the addictive Firefight mode, that was an awesome addition to ODST. |
Forge is a giant map now, and we can put down rocks!
|
It looks a shit-ton better than MW2, the multi-player aspect I mean, but that's not really saying much.
The campaign looks PHENOMENAL, it reminds me of the first Killzone game (except good) where you get to play as a variety of characters with different skills and they even have their own Rico type character (douche bag). The whole game just looks more tactical than the previous Halo games and I'm glad they went with this new idea instead of Halo 4. |
:
Anyways, can't wait for this, day one. |
Midnight launch with all the Halo people?
|
Nope, school the next day, and I dont think it would be much fun to be honest. Maybe if I got a friend to come along, but I doubt that will happen.
|
Yeah, I'm attending a launch night at GameStop. That's my night sorted.
|
Eh...I guess I will too, I can take off from work and don't have class on Tuesdays, but I'm probably gonna have to get a Monster energy drink sweatshirt to wear first and get used to using the word "epic" to describe food.
|
I've never really got into Halo and I have no idea what the the game is all about. but i've got to say the TV trailer was very impressive, some-what moving music.

|
I'm looking forward to it, especially campaign mode. I have high hopes for it.
|
Don't get me wrong, I like Halo and it's multiplayer is amazing but the story never was too interesting for me. Halo 3's ending was pretty cool but epic? Nuh-uh.
Hey, just an opinion though. If you'd have to choose between Halo and Call of Duty, I'd go for Call of Duty. It's multiplayer is phenomenal. Except MW2 which is full of glitches, exploits and overpowered shit. |
Halo 3 has the worst campagin of the three, it was way too short and that last boss was just pathetic.

For me the campaigns go in this order, best to worst:
1.Halo ODST 2.Halo 3.Halo 3 4.Halo 2 Halo 2 was really bad as far as the campaign goes IMO. |
I STILL love Halo 2, except the crappy ending, but I liked the Arbiter's story.
Also one thing that kind of bugged me about Halo 3 was having to hold down the bumper buttons for a few secs to swap weapons instead of just pressing X like in Halo 2, but they're bringing that back in Reach gonna be sweet. I'm not sure about the lack of recharging shields though. |
Reach has shields, the only change is the health bar underneath them. Same system as the first Halo pretty much.
|
I think I remember Halo 2 so fondly because of how excited I was for it, like unbelievably excited, with the exception of Metal Gear Solid 2 it was the most excited I had ever gotten for a video game.
That trailer was just unbelievable. |
pre-ordered the game on play.com
So I'll get a few day later then the launch date I expect. |

As if being "noob-friendly" precludes the importance of skill in a match? As if it precludes the existance of more difficult but more rewarding tactics and gameplay? And frankly, if a noob, with all the "noob-friendly features" at his disposal, is able to beat a so-called "skilled-player" (who, might I add, also has access to all of those features as well as years of experience), perhaps it is the "skill" of the "skilled-player" that is somehow the problem, and not, as his rage-fueled rant against the modern gaming industry would otherwise attest, the fault of increased player accessibility. A half-way talented player might (shock horror) turn such aspects to their advantage. So you might have to change tactics. Oh no! I can't speak for anyone else, but I was already counting on doing that, what with jet packs and all. Or maybe it is just another term for "they changed it now it sucks" in which case, get the fuck over yourself. They already cater for Live players who loath change. It's called "Halo 3", and I hear it is quite popular. Because (and correct me if I'm wrong) the whole point of buying a new game is so that you can play a new game, and not one that you have been playing for five years already. |
While I 100% agree with you, my normal reaction to seeing posts talking about noob-friendly this and that is to just mutter "douchebag" and walk away. Now, I'm not saying what you did is wrong, hell, it's all kinds of right. The problem is that douchebags don't learn and you probably went to all that trouble for nothing.
|
However, he did give us all a good education in why we should dislike douchebags.
|
I've heard no news on Drones. I hope they don't make an appearance, they're bastards on Legendary.

Fairly sure they are in campaign, but not Firefight. Which is disappointing, I understand them not being in the default settings, but not being able to put them there in a custom seems stupid.
|
I've played Reach on my friends flashed xbox. He bought it, fixed it and plans to sell it and it didn't have a hard drive so I've only played the first 2 missions (Didn't use his hard drive for fear of getting banned). But let me tell you the campaign missions are lengthy and fun as hell.
The game is also much harder, firefight is mind boggling if you just play with the default settings, me and my bud couldn't get past the first set. There's a whole bunch of customisable options. You can tweak loads of different things which can include the enemy's vision and hearing, loadouts, if enemies spawn via dropship etc. Oh there's also much more maps than ODST. Then there's forge. I just dipped my toes in but forge world is huge. If you're wondering though you can't go in the tower on the cliffs but you can explore a hell of alot and there's a rediculous amount of content to keep you happy which is much easier to build. Seriously I cant wait to buy this game. |
A friend has a copy already, says its great, but harder as said above. There is some slow down apparently, but nothing crippling. He pretty much had nothing but positive comments other than that, Tuesday cant come soon enough.
|
GOD DAMN...I wish I had money to buy this on teh 14th, definitely picking this up with LBP2, it looks AMAZING!!! |
cant wait gonna be awesome
