My Plastecine Scrab :)

Hello :). Inspired by Daf.Eng's scrab model using Sculptris, I decided to try modelling a scrab myself, using plastecine.
I wish I had started modelling it in clay as then I could have painted it afterwards... so I'm going to make a cast/mould of this plastecine model (don't yet know how :S) once I'm finished, and somehow end up with the model made from clay, so I can get it fired and then attempt to paint it.. let us know what you think :)

This is just to show you how big it is (the model as it is now is just under 2 inches tall):

That's neat. You're pretty skilled when it comes to shaping things, I'm horrible at that. Can't wait to see the finished result!

Very nice work! I used to be a little nifty with making sculptures myself, however that was more along the lines of buildings and architecture, opposed to critters.

Its impressive stuff though; do you make a lot of them?, and this was just an accidental decision regarding whether to have started from clay or not, or is this one of your first works?!

I only had plastecine left from when I was a kid. never attempted making anything like this before, it's sort of my first attempt, if u disregard a little clay head I quickly modelled sometime a couple years ago.
Thanks for the compliments guys :)

How did you sculpt that? Tooth pick? A*

AvengingGibbons 09-03-2010 12:17 PM

Ha, no.. I wouldn't have been able to do this with a toothpick... I used some kind of scalpel-like tool. A steady hand is definitely required too!

Pleased to see i inspired you *sheds a tear*
It's looking great, you've got the shape down and some really nice detail done, i hope you're going to carry this on ;)

Very nice; can't wait to see it finished. :)

That's a very nice torso :D

Mudokon_Master 09-06-2010 10:43 PM

It's looking fantastic guy. You're probably a direct descendant from DI Vinci or someone ... Meh, but I'm naturally talented. Nah, it's cool, man. I can't sculpt for shit :D

RyuuFox 09-06-2010 10:47 PM
