iTunes 10

Well, iTunes 10 came out today, and I just downloaded it.

Anyone else get this? I think it's kind of cool, but gonna take some getting used to.

I messed around with iTunes yesterday trying to play some music on the iMac downstairs and I couldn't figure out how to make a playlist. I selected a bunch of songs in a folder and hit play, but when I opened iTunes I couldn't find a single way to display all the songs I just selected in a list. It was really weird. Winamp all the way for me.

iTunes is the least intuitive and user-friendly program ever. However, it does its job perfectly well.

Mr. Bungle 09-02-2010 05:56 AM

I've never used any other music player before, other than windows media player, which was kinda shit. I'd use WinAmp, but all my music is already in iTunes, and it's too much of a pain to move it all.

Ah, iTunes... I have so many negative things to say about this.

In three words, I hated it. Hated it with an absolute passion then I discovered VLC media player which I thought was really easy to use and did the job well.

Mr. Bungle 09-02-2010 06:12 AM

I've never had a problem with it, mainly because it was the only one I actually knew about for a really long time. I'm just so used to it.

itunes 9.2 or whatever i have at the moment has lots of tiny little issues which i'm sure wont be rectified by upgrading, such as not importing random tracks even after editing/cleaning up their id3 tags, and for some reason not letting me put album art on some tracks. otherwise it's kind of doing the job. am a new ipod initiate aka sellout

The fact that you can't download songs you've already purchased if something happens that loses the purchase-downloaded music, and actually have to buy it AGAIN is fucking disgusting. iTunes sucks.

Mr. Bungle 09-02-2010 07:40 PM

I never use iTunes for buying/downloading music, though. I just use it as somewhere to keep all my music when I want to listen to it, and I think it fulfills that purpose quite nicely. I like buying albums.

But, you do have a point.

Daxter King 09-02-2010 07:55 PM

I like the new looks to it, other than that it seems the same. I switch between using Zune and iTunes.

Mr. Bungle 09-02-2010 08:02 PM

Anyone here made a Ping account? I got one, but it's kind of useless, seeing as virtually no one uses it, save for a couple bands that Apple has undoubtedly given them a nice sum of money for doing so.

I don't think it'll really take off.

Crashpunk 09-03-2010 03:02 AM

Itunes is just buggy on my computer. It always deletes my music.

Wait, what? I knew Apple was a money making bastards but I didn't think it was THAT bad. That's just fucking retarded.

Glad I simply use Winamp to play my music and uTorrent to download it.

So all the artists who work their arses off to make the music you listen to don't get any money?

Fight the power. You arsehole.

MeechMunchie 09-03-2010 04:44 AM

Apple really need to fix that cockup that is Sound Check. It just doesn't work. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it makes things worse. It goes too far, so rather than ending up with tracks the same volume you just get loud songs quiet and quiet songs loud, with a few that just don't change. They really ought to start adjusting by maximum volume, rather than average.

If music is in your iTunes Library folder, then it will ask you if you want to delete the file when you remove it from your playlist. Just put it in another folder, that's what I do.

The copyright system is screwed up to begin with. In my opinion, if an artist wants to make mad money of his music he should be doing concerts and stuff like that. Actually work for his money instead of spending one month writing an album and recording it and expecting the money faucet to open for the rest of his life.

I support artists who I really think are good. Just got the last two albums from Eminem, actually. But there are also plenty of artists who think their money should come naturally because they made 1 CD 5 years ago. They can piss off because that's not the way the world works.

Mr. Bungle 09-03-2010 12:43 PM

Most of the money a band makes is from touring, merch, etc. Most of the money made from CD sales ends up going to the record label, especially if it's a major one (not too sure about independent labels).
