EU PSN Plus with free AO
Not really worth the new topic, but since topics older than 3 months are closed I have to..
http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2010/...and-september/ Anyone with a PSN PLUS account get's Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee for free (for the duration of your PSN plus account) as from September. It is nice that they took this game as it was on the list of most requested. :

Thanks for the heads up!
I wonder what OWI gets out of this. |
Publicity, I guess. If they're planning a big resurrection they'll want somebody to be watching.
|
That's true. That PSP I got my eye on is getting even more tempting
|
It's nice to see. Gives me proof that there must be more fans out there than us. And, when the new stuff comes out, then there will be even MORE fans, so that will be nice :). Does the Oddworld series count as some kind of cult classic? Probably.
|
I don't think so that AO and AE can be called cult classics. To me it never seemed they failed in succes. Think MO and Stranger can be called cult classics, as they only had a few fans and they failed big time in times of succes. Of the big mainstream Oddworld fans only a few stayed with Oddworld on the xbox.
In one of the reactions someone asked for a bunch of things for following months to be free: AE was mentioned ofcourse, then an official from the PSN club did a reaction on that to mention they are big Oddworld fans too. So I guess that only means AE will be free soon there after too for the "fools" to buy a PSN Plus account ( I still don't see the benefit of such an account) @ Nath For me AO or AE on PSP just doesn't work out. I can't get used to the controls. Luckily I could play it on ps3 :D. Those controls were born in my hand. AO was about the first ever real game I played, and last time I had downloaded AO and started it up it took me 1 second to remember all controls on ps3 :D. Tried every possible combination on PSP, just doesn't work out at all. |
Ah, but even with all the fans on these forums put together, we still don't count as very many when you compare to the big games. As a whole, when it comes to serious fans of the series (and not everyone on the forums are serious fans; some will have joined when young and then forgotten all about it) there really aren't many of us. Oddworld may be a cult classic :P although with all this new stuff going on, i'm hoping we won't be using the word "classic for much longer
|
Yeah, maybe you are right, it only sold >4 million copy's (AO+AE). But still, if you mention Oddworld, almost everybody knows it, and don't have a bad thing to say about it (atleast not about the games themselves :P).

Good news for you on the other side of the world:
AO will be free for the USA now too, if you buy a PSN+ subscription http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/...-abes-oddysee/ |
Thanks for the Heads up :)
|
And another heads up for you Xavier,
AE is soon free with PSN+ in the USA :
AO will be removed though, so catch it while you can if you haven't already, but still want to. |
Dang, I was just searching on the EU PSN where I did notice Abe's Oddysee is totally gone from the EU PSN! It would be removed as free download for Plus people, but now it's GONE.
It is still available on the USA PSN, so I guess they made a mistake removing it??? JAW/ODDMOB you need to get that back on there ASAP! |
What OI need right new is some advertisement in order to restart the selling on pc and make all their not updated fans notice it.
I guess a free download of the most outdated and beautiful games they produced is a good way to go. Hope they will have enought money to promote the oddboxx before launching it:fuzblink: |
So you're suggesting that giving their games away for free will be a good way to get people to buy their games?

:
And about what MeechMunchie just suggested it could apply to us super fans but not for normal players. |
Yeah, I wasn't agreeing with you. I was just disagreeing with Nate, if even that.
