I need a detailed explanation on who gives Rep power, why its given and why its reduced.

And why was my 3Guys1Hammer Thread bad repped ?

Your rep power is created using a top secret equation based off your post count and your rep. So secret, in fact, that one half of it is held by the CIA, the other; Al Qaeda. Bush's real reasoning behind the invasion of Afghanistan was a desire, a curiosity to find out how exactly rep power is calculated.

So remember our brave, young sons are out there, risking their lives, and hunting down Osama all in the name of rep power.

Seriously though, I haven’t noticed any reductions in rep power.

I don't know exactly how it works, one of the mod's will have to explain it.

I like to think of it as the ranking system of the forums... I currently stand as top dog with 1.

Rep power is the amount of rep that is added to someone when you posrep them. Negative rep subtracts half your rep power.

The rep power number comes from a calculation involving the length of time you've been a member, your post count, your current rep and whether you're a mod or not.


All that said, I suspect your question was actually about rep itself and not rep power; in which case your rep number can be viewed by hovering your mouse over the green boxes to the right of the Rep Power. To give rep to somone, click the scales icon on their post.

People give rep to posts they like and subtract it from posts they don't. How much weight you place on the judgement of other members of OWF is entirely up to you.

I don't think anybody was ever going to posrep somebody for something designed to horrify them.

Considering humour is a matter of personal taste, it can be frustrating when whether a mod finds it funny or not is what decides whether you get punished or not.

There is usually a certain level of discretion there. There are plenty of posts that I don't find funny that I don't infract because I can see that other people will.
